Ex-Google AI Founders Secure $5.7M to Build Your Digital Second Brain

Imagine having a second digital brain that remembers every conversation, call, and meeting you’ve ever had. And it doesn’t even require manual entry. Well, that’s TwiMind for you. A young AI startup that was launched by three former Google AI scientists. The founders have secured $5.7 million in seed funding and are all set to change how we interact with our thoughts and the digital world.

TwiMind, an AI startup by an ex-Google trio, wants to revolutionize the digital space

TwiMind was founded in 2024 by Daniel George, who currently serves as the CEO of the startup. He launched this startup in partnership with his ex-colleagues from Google X, Sunny Tang and Mahi Karim. Both partners are currently serving as the CTO for TwiMind. The app works in a pretty straightforward way. It records your ambient speech in the background to build a personal knowledge graph. However, do note that the user’s consent is required before it starts capturing the speech in the background.

After storing and analysing your conversations, calls, and meetings, the app generates AI-powered notes, reminders, and answers to predicted queries. The app works completely offline in real-time and is capable of storing data for up to the last 17 hours. It doesn’t affect the battery performance of the device much, and the users are also given an option to back up transcripts.

TwiMind can do much more than you can imagine

There are already some apps available, such as Otter AI and Fireflies, that do a similar kind of stuff. However, these apps are restricted to meetings. TwiMind, on the other hand, can pretty much record and transcribe anything as it runs in the background and takes notes of literally every ambient speech.

TwiMind is available on both Android and iOS devices, as well as on the Chrome extension store. Its browser extension can read open tabs, analyze Gmails, Slack messages, etc., and can even shortlist job applications. The startup currently has more than 30,000 registered users and 15,000 monthly active users. The majority of its user base emerges from the U.S. However, it is growing rapidly in markets such as India, Brazil, and Ethiopia.

To expand its offering, the founders recently launched the Ear-3 speech model. It is capable of recognizing over 140 different languages with high accuracy. The Ear-2 (original) model runs locally, whereas the Ear-3 runs on cloud servers. However, it can switch to local resources if the internet connection drops. The Pro version of TwiMind costs $15 a month and offers extended context windows (up to 2 million tokens) and priority support.
