It looks like Samsung is ready to make its next big move in the high-end mobile chip segment. The upcoming Exynos 2600 will be the company’s first 2nm SoC. The hardware will also boast being the first commercial 2nm chipset for smartphones. The company has been working hard to boost the yield rate of its 2nm wafers. Now, a new report claims that Samsung is ready to begin mass production of the Exynos 2600 chip.

According to a report from The Financial News, Samsung has completed the development of its latest high-end application processor. Mass production of the Samsung Exynos 2600 is set to begin this month. Additionally, everything points to the company debuting the SoC in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. This will mark the return of Exynos hardware to the Galaxy S flagships after a period of absence.

The Exynos 2600 will be Samsung Foundry’s first flagship chip to use the advanced 2nm gate-all-around (GAA) process. This cutting-edge manufacturing technology will provide substantial improvements. It will enhance aspects such as power efficiency and heat control compared to previous generations. The new chip will also feature a dedicated thermal management solution, known as the Heat Path Block (HPB). HPB aims to efficiently dissipate heat and enhance the chip’s stability under demanding conditions.

Optimism regarding performance

Recent benchmark data brings optimism around the Exynos 2600 chip. According to Geekbench results, the chip shows a single-core score of 3,309 and a multi-core score of 11,256. These figures place it on a comparable performance level with Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. As an interesting fact, Samsung will also use the Qualcomm chip in the Galaxy S26 lineup.

A big move for Samsung

The return of the Exynos chip to the flagship Galaxy S line has big business implications for Samsung’s various divisions. For the Mobile eXperience (MX) division, using a higher proportion of its own chips could lead to a substantial reduction in material costs. After all, large-scale procurement from an external supplier like Qualcomm is often expensive. This provides greater control over the supply chain and helps improve overall profitability.

For Samsung’s System LSI division, it re-establishes its position as a key internal supplier, laying a foundation for restoring smartphone design competitiveness.

Furthermore, a successful and stable rollout of the Exynos 2600 would be a major win for Samsung’s semiconductor business, particularly its foundry arm. It would provide tangible proof of its technological capabilities and help rebuild confidence in its 2nm manufacturing process.
