A new leak has surfaced that highlights the Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. Samsung’s most recent true wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, have only been out for a little over a year, having launched in July of 2024. And yet, there are already mentions surfacing of the follow-up earbuds. This doesn’t mean Samsung is getting ready to launch a new pair so soon.
It was nearly two years between the release of the Galaxy Buds 2 and the Galaxy Buds 3 series. There’s a good chance it will look to do the same thing here. However, it is interesting to see the names of these devices pop up this early. Especially when you factor in where the names were found. It is worth mentioning that the Galaxy Buds 4 may be coming anytime soon. They have already been rumored to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 next year.
The Galaxy Buds 4 and the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are mentioned in the One UI 8.5 code
As reported by Android Authority, the latest version of One UI, which is One UI 8.5, has leaked in some capacity recently, with screenshots having shown up following that build making its way into some people’s hands.
What’s interesting is what some people have been finding inside the code of that software release. One user, named That Josh Guy on X, discovered mentions of the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro in the code of One UI 8.5.
These new earbuds are mentioned in the strings of code two separate times. The first time they’re referenced, all that’s mentioned are the actual product names. It shouldn’t be surprising that Samsung is likely keeping the same naming scheme. The second time the code mentions these earbuds, they’re referenced with what are likely to be the model numbers.
According to the leak, the Galaxy Buds 4 come with the model number SM-R540. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are listed with the model number SM-R640. This tracks. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have a model number of SM-R630. So, Samsung is keeping things pretty similar here with the current model.
