Dubbed the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate, the devices appeared in leaked renders last week, giving us a first look at the duo. Today, we have their key specs as well thanks to a reputed Chinese tipster who goes by the name Digital Chat Station on the domestic microblogging platform Weibo (via).
Tipster reveals key ROG Phone 6D series specs
ASUS has already confirmed that the ROG Phone 6D series will feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ chipset. It is essentially an overclocked version of the Dimensity 9000. Rumors are that the upcoming ASUS gaming phones will further increase the clock speed of the Cortex-X2 CPU core on the chipset. The company is seemingly banking on its new and advanced cooling system to keep things under control. ASUS is calling its best thermal management system yet. It allows airflow unlike any ROG Phone before, the Taiwanese firm teased last week.
As ASUS usually does, the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate will likely share all the specs apart from memory configurations. They may also slightly differ in terms of the rear gaming-oriented extras such as synced LEDs. At least that’s what the leaked renders hinted at last week. Perhaps, as the new Weibo post revealed, they will borrow a lot of things from the ROG Phone 6 series. Both models will sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a staggering 165Hz refresh rate, unchanged from the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro.
The upcoming ROG phones will feature three cameras at the back. The 50MP primary shooter is reportedly a Sony IMX 766. Spec details of the other sensors are not known. Fueling this phone are two battery packs with a combined capacity of 6,000mAh. The battery will charge at a 65W speed. Once again, nothing changes from the two ROG Phone 6 modes.
The ROG Phone 6D series may not bring many upgrades
The ROG Phone 6D series recently picked up the Bluetooth SIG certification, with support for Bluetooth 5.3. That’s one change from the previous models that support Bluetooth 5.2. We will have to wait for more reports to emerge before we can tell what else changes. ASUS could do better by offering better ingress protection. The ROG Phone 6 series only offers IPX4, which is pretty basic. You wouldn’t want to take these phones near water. With the launch scheduled for September 19, it’s just about two weeks to go before we get to know what upgrades the ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate bring.
The post Leaked ASUS ROG Phone 6D Specs Suggest A Minor Upgrade appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

ASUS is readying a couple of new ROG series smartphones for launch later this month, on September 19.
