\nNow you might be wondering, what\u2019s taken Apple so long? Well for one, macOS is not touch-friendly. So it\u2019s not as simple as popping in a touchscreen onto the MacBook Pro and calling it a day. Apple has resisted adding a touchscreen to Mac because Steve Jobs believed that \u201ctouch surfaces don\u2019t want to be vertical\u201d. That\u2019s due to arm fatigue. And the few Windows and ChromeOS laptops I\u2019ve used with touchscreens, I can say, I used them once and that was it. So it does seem that Jobs was correct here.
\nMac users don\u2019t want a touchscreen
\nSince this report has come out, we\u2019ve seen a lot of Mac users sounding off about not wanting a touchscreen on their Mac at all. And, I can\u2019t blame them. The only way this would be useful is if Apple made the hinge wider. So you could fold your MacBook\u2019s display back and use it as a larger tablet. But then again, that\u2019s what the iPad is for.
\nIt\u2019s going to be interesting to see how Apple tries to sell this to consumers when it is announced in a few years. But we do have a few years to wait for that. I\u2019m sure MacBook users will be more excited about having an OLED display rather than a touchscreen on their new MacBook.
