With that release, Google also released the timeline for Android 14, and it’s not all that surprising. It mostly follows previous years.
As you can see below, we’ll get two developer previews in February and March. Then four betas starting in April, with the final release coming around August/September. Typically, that final release comes around Labor Day or just after IFA in September.

First beta arrives before Google I/O
Once again, Google is releasing the first beta before we even get to Google I/O. This is a bit surprising, because Google typically waits for I/O to release the first beta, as it gives them time to tout the new features coming in the new version of Android. During the keynote at I/O, Google would go over what’s coming to Android 14, and then release the first beta after that keynote. But that’s not the case this year, once again.
Just like last year, the first beta will actually come in April. But, we wouldn’t expect many features in there. Google will likely hold off most features for the second beta, which will launch after the Google I/O keynote in May.
Android 14 so far, is shaping up to be a pretty small release. Which is expected from both Google and Apple, since both platforms are pretty mature at this point. There’s not a whole lot more that either platform can really do. And with the first developer preview, Google really seemed to be struggling to talk about new features and changes that are coming in Android 14. Mostly talking about things that the end-user won’t see.
But that’s the timeline for Android 14. The final release will be around August or September once again. Of course, Pixels will be first in line to get the Android 14 update, as well as be compatible with the developer previews and betas.
The post Here’s how many previews & betas Android 14 will get appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Today, Google released the first developer preview for Android 14.
