As powerful as it is, there are people who don\u2019t use it to its full potential. For example, Gmail has keyboard shortcuts that you might not know about. They\u2019re really useful and they could speed up your workflow.<br \/>\nSo, what are these shortcuts and how could they help you out? Don\u2019t worry, here\u2019s a handy guide to show you.<br \/>\nEnabling the shortcuts<br \/>\nBefore we talk about how to use the shortcuts, we need to talk about how to enable them. Chances are that they won\u2019t be enabled by default.<br \/>\nFirst, go to the top right of your screen and click on the\u00a0Settings icon. You\u2019ll see a panel extend out of the right of the screen. Up top, click the\u00a0More Settings button.<br \/>\nOn the resulting screen, you\u2019ll see a bunch of settings that you can change. Scroll down until you see the\u00a0Keyboard Shortcuts section. It will be pretty close to the bottom of the screen. There, you can toggle the feature on.<br \/>\nGmail keyboard shortcuts<br \/>\nThere are a lot of shortcuts that you can use, and they\u2019re separated into categories. Here\u2019s a rundown of them. These shortcuts work for both mac and PC. If you\u2019re using a mac, then replace the CTRL with the \u2318 key. It will work all the same.<br \/>\nComposing and chat<br \/>\nSo, when you want to start a new message in Gmail, use these keyboard shortcuts.<br \/>\nCompose new message: c<br \/>\nCompose new message in new window: d<br \/>\nWhen you\u2019re navigating your messages, you can use these shortcuts.<br \/>\nNext Message: p<br \/>\nPrevious Message: n<br \/>\nNext Chapter: Ctrl + .<br \/>\nPrevious Chapter: Ctrl + ,<br \/>\nWhile you\u2019re composing a message, you can:<br \/>\nAdd cc Recipients: Ctrl + Shift + c<br \/>\nAdd bcc Recipients: Ctrl + Shift + b<br \/>\nInsert A Link: Ctrl + k<br \/>\nSend It:\u00a0Ctrl + Enter<br \/>\nFormatting<br \/>\nNext, we have the formatting shortcuts. Gmail has several ways that you can customize your messages to give them personality. They\u2019re great if you\u2019re looking to organize your email to make them easier to read. Gmail lets you either create a bulleted or numbered list of items. There are also shortcuts that increase or decrease the indentation of the item. When you increase the indentation, you move that item down a tier on the list. Before you can start editing your shortcuts, you must first enable the feature. Go back to your settings and go to the Advanced\u00a0tab at the top. About halfway down the page, you\u2019ll see the option to enable custom keyboard shortcuts. After you enable them, press the\u00a0Save changes button.<br \/>\nWhen you go back to the settings page, you\u2019ll see a new tab at the end of the top bar. That\u2019s the keyboard shortcuts tab. When you click on it, you\u2019ll see a list of all of the shortcuts.<br \/>\nClick on the shortcut you want to change and type in the key that you want to replace it with.
