Apart from smartphones, TVs, tablets, smartwatches, and cars, Android will now also support VR headsets. Notably, Samsung’s “Project Moohan” (“Infinity” in Korean) will be one of the first devices to support the new platform. Google hasn’t yet revealed everything about the Android XR platform. However, recently a Samsung executive revealed that the Android XR devices, including Samsung’s upcoming product, will support the “Find My Device” feature.
You will be able to locate your Samsung Android XR headset using the “Find My Device” feature
Google’s VP and GM of the AR & XR division, Shahram Izadi” has revealed to Android Faithful that Android XR devices will support the “Find My Device” feature. This will allow you to locate your Android XR headset using Google’s “Find My Feature”, in case you place it. Since users do not wear these types of electronic devices continuously, they can easily misplace them.
Notably, while it’s hardly a surprise, this is a great piece of news. Android XR is based on Android and utilizes Google’s services. So, we already expected the new platform to support the “Find My Device” feature. Other Android devices already support this functionality. Notably, Izadi has discussed the Android XR platform with the publication in a 30-minute interview, which you can watch below.
Android XR platform will support more “Better Together” umbrella of features by Google
Furthermore, Izadi went on to reveal that more Android capabilities will be available for the Android XR platform. The new platform will support most of Google’s “Better Together” umbrella of features for Android. Notably, we expect Android XR devices will support features like “Quick Share”, “Family Link”, and multi-user support.
Notably, Izadi also discussed the “split-compute configuration” of Android XR during the interview. He also talked about how the new OS for VR headsets optimizes battery life, how Gemini will be able to control apps, and more.

The post Samsung’s Android XR headset will support ‘Find My Device’ appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Google introduced the Android XR operating system for virtual reality headsets earlier this month.
