According to reports, a more affordable FE variant will debut alongside the device in 2025. Samsung wants its foldable devices to reach a wider audience in order to get more sales, something they failed to do this year. Also, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to be Samsung’s first foldable phone powered by the Exynos 2500 chip.
Some background on the Exynos 2500 chip and Samsung Foundry issues
Those who keep up with the smartphone world are already familiar with the “tragic” history of the Exynos 2500 chip. For context, Samsung planned to implement the chip in the Galaxy S25 series. The company designed it as a 3nm SoC for manufacturing at the Samsung Foundry. However, theirs’s 3nm GAA wafers weren’t up to par, delivering very low yield rates. Production levels were such that they made mass production of the chip commercially unviable.
Samsung spent months trying to get its situation back on track in hopes of using Exynos in the Galaxy S25. Sadly, the company failed to do so and had to turn to Qualcomm to purchase the Snapdragon 8 Elite. This chip will be present in all models of the Galaxy S25 series around the world. Many are happy about this, as Snapdragon chips are the highest-rated in the Android industry. However, it’s costing Samsung a lot more than using its own SoCs. There are even rumors of potential price increases in the series.
Samsung to debut the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy Z Flip 7
This month, the company appears to have gotten back on track by finally stabilizing the yield rate of its wafers. It looks like they finally achieved commercially viable yield rates. They ran out of time to use Exynos chips in the Galaxy S25 series, but they will in foldables. In fact, a top Samsung executive recently confirmed that both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip FE will be powered by the Exynos 2500. This will make them the first foldables from the brand to boast Exynos hardware. So far, all of the brand’s foldables, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6, have used Snapdragon chips.
In a broadcast this month, The Elec revealed that it was able to independently confirm the presence of the Exynos 2500 chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. That said, neither the South Korean outlet nor the top Samsung exec mentioned the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This opens the door for the firm to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in its 2025 book-like foldable device—and potentially in the next Z Fold Special Edition.
The post Galaxy Z Flip 7 to be the first Exynos-powered Samsung foldable appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be Samsung’s next-gen clamshell foldable phone.
