To stand out from the rest, some Android brands have gone for big sensors or even teamed up with well-known photography brands. Samsung is going at its own pace, betting on lots of megapixels and optimization in its Galaxy Ultra devices. A new leak has re-confirmed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will keep a conservative approach regarding camera sensors.
Fans of Samsung have been critical of the company for not coming up with new camera hardware in recent years. Like Google, Samsung doesn’t constantly integrate new and bigger sensors but instead tries to optimize the current ones as much as possible for many years. That’s also going to happen with its next-gen flagship device, which only has one new sensor in its camera setup. So, most of the image quality improvements will come via software.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will keep most of the rear camera sensors from its predecessor
Tipster AssembleDebug shared on X/Twitter the camera sensors Samsung will use in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The tipster spotted the data while checking the kernel code of the device. According to the report, the only new camera will be the ultra-wide one. Samsung will implement a new 50MP ISOCELL JN3 sensor, replacing the old 12MP sensor. Samsung hasn’t announced such a sensor yet, currently offering the JN1 and JN5 models.
The rest of the sensors will be the same as what we already saw on the Galaxy S25. There is a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main lens, a 10MP Sony IMX754 telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP Sony IMX854 periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom. You’ll also get the same 12MP S5K3LU front camera. Early leaks suggested that the company would integrate a more modern telephoto lens, but it seems that won’t be the case.
Samsung will have to optimize a lot to keep up with its rivals
The reliable tipster Ice Universe supported the leak, which gives it more veracity. So, everything indicates that the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera hardware will be a bit outdated compared to modern camera phones—especially from Chinese brands. But the South Korean giant usually does a good job optimizing things. Let’s hope that Samsung lives up to its 2025 competitors in terms of camera quality so as not to disappoint fans.
The post Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera sensors re-confirmed in new leak appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Camera quality is one of the key aspects for any modern flagship phone.
