\nLast year, Intel announced the Core Ultra 200V series of laptop chips with support for artificial intelligence features. However, the power of the SoCs could fall a bit short for portable gaming enthusiasts. Now, the company is releasing new options that have a little more raw power without giving up AI. The Core Ultra 200H chips are aimed at \u201cperformance thin and light\u201d notebooks, according to the brand. That said, their NPUs are not that powerful, so they don\u2019t get Microsoft\u2019s \u201cCopilot+\u201d certification.

\nThere are choices that take similar approaches but differ in one important way: the GPU. For people who want a mobile GPU that can run games, the Intel Core Ultra 200HX series offers an \u201call-in-one\u201d package. The most powerful chip in the lineup is the Core Ultra 9 285H with a 16-core CPU (6x high-performance cores, 8x energy-efficient cores, and 2x ultra-low-power cores). The hardware can reach a maximum clock speed of up to 5.4 GHz and has an eight-core Intel Arc discrete GPU.
\nThe HX models are meant for high-performance
\nOn the other hand, the Intel Core Ultra 200HX chip series aims for those looking for a powerful CPU to complement much more capable GPUs. The top-of-the-line model is the Core Ultra 9 285HX. This chip has a 24-core CPU (8x high-performance cores, 16x energy-efficient cores) that tops out at 5.5 GHz. As previously mentioned, the design does not include a powerful GPU, instead integrating a basic 4-core Intel one. You\u2019ll find these SoCs in setups with more powerful laptop GPUs from vendors like NVIDIA or AMD.
\nIntel revealed that the first laptops powered by Core Ultra 200H chips will arrive sometime in Q1 2025.<\/p>\n
