It dominates other options like Microsoft’s Bing, Yahoo!, Yandex, and others. The company has been the number one search engine for many decades now. However, in a surprising turn of events, Google’s search market share just dropped below 90 percent for the first time in a decade.
Google Search market share is down below 90 percent for the first time since 2015
According to the data shared by StatCounter, Google’s market share in the search segment has dropped below 90 percent since 2015. The brand’s market share has been below 90 percent for the past three months consecutively. The company’s search market share was 89.73 percent in December. In November and October, they recorded 89.99 percent and 89.34 percent, respectively.
Notably, a market share of more than 80 percent is still a commanding grip on the segment. However, this is the first time the brand has failed to maintain a 90 percent market share continuously for three months since 2015. Notably, Google Search’s overall market share is fairly consistent in most regions except Asia. This could be the main reason for the overall drop in the search market share.
Furthermore, Google’s US search market share peaked at 90.37 percent in November. However, it dropped to 87.39 percent in December. During other months, Google’s US search market share was quite consistent, varying between 80-86 percent.
“Are we now finally starting to see the beginning people moving away to other search engines? This will be an area of interest to watch in the coming months”, mentioned the report.
Here’s the market share of others this year
As far as the other major options go, Microsoft’s Bing had a market share of 3.97 percent in December 2024. As for Yandex, it grabbed a market share of 2.56 percent globally. Yahoo!, Baidu, and DuckDuckGo grabbed a market share of 1.29 percent, 0.81 percent, and 0.66 percent across the world. Notably, chatbots like ChatGPT and Google’s own Gemini could also be eating Google’s search market share, but there’s no proof of it yet.
The post Google’s search market share goes below 90 percent for the first time appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Google is without a doubt the most popular search engine in the world.
