Well, one of those traits is ads. Since its launch a year and a half ago, the Meta-owned platform has been ad-free. Well, that\u2019s about to change, as Threads will eventually display ads.<br \/>\nWe all knew that this was coming, so don\u2019t act surprised. Meta is a gigantic ad company with advertisements showing up on all of its platforms. This is how the company makes money to fuel its AI ventures. While not as big as Google\u2019s advertising business, Meta is still up there.<br \/>\nThreads will display ads eventually<br \/>\nDon\u2019t expect to see ads right this minute. While Meta is experienced in showing ads throughout its platforms, the company is still testing it out at the moment. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri made a post on Threads stating that the company is \u201cstarting a small test for ads on Threads with a handful of brands in the US and Japan.\u201d<br \/>\nBy small test, the company chose a select group of users. So, there\u2019s a slight chance that you\u2019ll see ads on the app before anyone else. At this point, we don\u2019t know how the ads will be displayed or how intrusive they will be. We\u2019re sure that it\u2019s going to be consistent with the kinds of ads that we see across Meta\u2019s other properties.<br \/>\nThis was bound to happen<br \/>\nWhile we don\u2019t typically like to see ads on our screens, you have to admit that this was bound to happen. We\u2019re pretty surprised that the app remained ad-free for this long. Meta is a big company, and you know the proverb: The bigger they are, the larger their business expenses.<br \/>\nIt costs a ton of money to run a social media platform, and we\u2019re certain that Threads has cost Meta millions of dollars since it launched. Well, the company can\u2019t very well have Threads sit there and siphon money with no revenue.
