Google is finding ways for it to be better integrated into our lives. Well, according to a new report, it looks like Gemini will be able to talk to Google Maps to better help you gather information about different locations.
It’s important to know that there’s no guarantee that Google will launch this. While it seems likely that the company will introduce it, the company hasn’t officially announced it. This feature was discovered through an APK deep-dive performed by Android Authority. As such, there’s a chance that Google could cancel this feature before the launch.
Google could add Gemini integration to Google Maps
Google has a handful of extensions out that allow Gemini to communicate with other apps and services. For example, this is why Gemini allows you to control your smart home devices. Other extensions allow Gemini to communicate with Google Messages, Google Hotels, Google Flights, and other Google services along with Spotify, WhatsApp, YouTube, etc.
There’s an extension for Google Maps already, but the company is looking to provide more usability for it. Android Authority found code within the Google app v16.4.35 that points to the company bringing a new chip when you summon Gemini in Google Maps.
The chip will have the text “Ask about place”, and it will allow you to get more context about a certain location. Just like the “Ask about screen” and “Ask about video” chips, you’ll be able to ask Gemini questions about the location you’re viewing.
Looking at the screenshots below, when you tap on the chip, Gemini will paste the URL for the location into the text field so you can ask whatever question you want. You’ll ask Gemini questions about how to get to that location. We’re sure you’ll ask questions like business hours, services, menu items, etc. based on the location you look up.

At this point, we don’t know if Google will launch this feature, but it’s too useful not to launch. Also, it’s far along enough in production to function, as you can see in the video below. So, we’re certain that Google will launch it eventually.

The post Google Maps could get an upgrade through Gemini appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Google Gemini is already an amazing tool for receiving information, but it’s still expanding.
