This is especially true for its own Pixel devices. Well, what if you take a Pixel device and remove Google from the equation? You get the new Murena Pixel Tablet.
What is the Murena Pixel Tablet?
Murena is an ethical tech company that focuses on privacy in a world where all companies want to steal our data. Its devices run on an open-source operating system that doesn’t collect your data. Rather than making its own hardware to go along with its software, the company actually takes existing devices and refurbishes them.
For instance, you can buy a Pixel 7, Pixel 8, CMF Phone 1, or a Fairphone 4 from the company. They’re the same hardware sold by Google, Nothing, and Fairphone, but they have different software loaded on. The prices aren’t bad, as you can pick up a refurbished Pixel 7 for only $399.
Now, Murena is selling its repackaged Pixel Tablet
Google is a company with a fair share of its good and bad qualities. One of its bad qualities is its tendency to scoop up your data like it’s ice cream. While most people don’t know (or really care) about this, some people are passionate about keeping their data private.
This is the reason Murena is doing this. The company just announced that it’s selling refurbished Pixel Tablets. The kicker is that these tablets will have every ounce of Google scrubbed off of them. This means that you’ll still be able to enjoy many features that Android has to offer. You just don’t have to worry about where your data is going, who’s seeing it, who’s selling it, or if it’s involved in a data leak.
Murena’s custom operating system is called /e/OS. It comes with the basics like a browser, email client, calendar, and even a map. Along with that, you’ll still be able to download Android apps. Just know that you won’t have access to the Google Play Store and you won’t be able to use certain apps like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Docs, and other Google apps.
However, when it comes to keeping your data secure, that’s a worthwhile trade.
You’re still getting a great tablet
If you remember, the Pixel Tablet was a pretty great device when it came out. This device uses the Google Tensor G2, which is pretty dated at this point, but it’s still a decently powerful chip. Along with that, you get a beautiful 2560 x 1600 LCD display that’s perfect for watching content. This, coupled with the amazing speakers, will make this a media consumption device.
If you want to have this great tablet with Google gone, then it will only cost you $549. You can order the tablet today, and just allow two to three days for shipping. Unfortunately, you will not get the speaker dock in the box. That’s something to keep in mind.
The post Here’s a Google Pixel Tablet… without the Google appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

If you buy a new Android-powered device, then you should expect to see Google’s footprint throughout the operating system.
