The OPPO Find N5 is thinner than even the HONOR Magic V3, and in addition to that it brings a number of other improvements compared to its predecessor. In this article, we’ll be comparing it to probably the most popular book-style foldable in the world. We’ll be comparing the OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
These two phones are a lot different. They are both book-style foldable and have two displays, but are very different. We will first list their specifications, as per usual, and will then move to compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output. Needless to say, there’s a lot of ground to cover here, so let’s get down to it, shall we?
Specs
OPPO Find N5 & Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, respectively
– Screen size (main):
8.12-inch Foldable LTPO OLED (120Hz, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, 2,100 nits peak)
7.6-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display (120Hz, HDR10+, 2,600 nits peak)
– Screen Size (cover):
6.62-inch LTPO OLED (120Hz, 2,450 nits peak)
6.3-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X (120Hz, 1,600 nits peak)
– Display resolution (main):
2248 x 2480
1856 x 2160
– Display resolution (cover):
2616 x 1140
2376 x 968
– SoC:
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (7-core)
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy
– RAM:
16GB (LPDDR5X)
12GB (LPDDR5X)
– Storage:
512GB (UFS 4.0)
256GB/512GB/1TB (UFS 4.0)
– Rear cameras:
50MP (wide, f/1.9 aperture, 1/1.56-inch sensor size, OIS, PDAF), 8MP (ultrawide, f/2.2 aperture, 116-degree FoV, 1/4.0-inch sensor size), 50MP (periscope telephoto, 1/2.75-inch sensor size, OIS, 3x optical zoom, macro)
50MP (wide, f/1.8 aperture, Dual Pixel PDAF OIS), 12MP (ultrawide, 123-degree FoV), 10MP (telephoto, 3x optical zoom)
– Front cameras:
8MP (main display, f/2.4 aperture, 1/4.0-inch sensor size), 8MP (cover display, f/2.4 aperture, 1/4.0-inch sensor size)
4MP (under display, main display, f/1.8 aperture), 10MP (cover display, f/2.2 aperture)
– Battery:
5,600mAh
4,400mAh
– Charging:
80W wired, 50W wireless, 5W reverse wired (charger included)
25W wired, 15W wireless, 4.5W reverse wireless (no charger)
– Dimensions (unfolded):
160.9 x 145.6 x 4.2 mm
158.7 x 139.7 x 5.8mm
– Dimensions (folded):
160.9 x 74.4 x 8.9 mm
153.5 x 68.1 x 12.1 mm
– Weight:
229 grams
239 grams
– Connectivity:
5G, LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.4/5.3
– Security:
Side-facing fingerprint scanner
Side-facing fingerprint scanner
– OS:
Android 15 with ColorOS 15.0.1
Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1
– Price:
$1,860
$1,699
– Buy:
N/A
Galaxy Z Fold 6 (Samsung / Best Buy)
OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Design
Both of these phones are made out of metal and glass, and both are book-style foldables. Do note that the OPPO Find N5 also comes in a vegan leather back version, but only in China. Its global versions have glass backs. There’s also some titanium in the mix, in the hinge department. Despite the fact they’re both slippery and book-style foldables, they feel very different in the hand, and very different to use.
The OPPO Find N5 is considerably thinner & also lighter
The OPPO Find N5 is shockingly thin, it actually feels like you’re using a regular slab phone when it’s closed. It’s only 8.93mm thick, which is a lot thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 12.1mm. The difference is jarring, and the moment you pick both up you’ll realize that. The OPPO Find N5 is also thinner when folded, 4.2mm vs 5.6mm, and it’s also 10 grams lighter at 229 grams. Samsung’s foldable actually feels like a tank compared to the OPPO Find N5, even though it is thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
OPPO’s phone also has larger displays, both of them
On top of that, it has a notably larger displays, both of them, so it’s taller, and wider in both folded and unfolded orientations. Both smartphones have a display camera hole on their cover displays. The Find N5 has one on the main display too, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 utilizes an under-display camera on the main display, which is also somewhat visible. The sides are flat on both smartphones, and both of them have a fingerprint scanner embedded into the power/lock key. Speaking of which, the physical buttons sit on the right-hand side of both phones. Both of them have a standard set of physical keys.
They offer completely different-looking camera setups on the back
If we flip them around, you’ll notice a camera oreo on the back of the OPPO Find N5. It includes three cameras, and it’s centered in the upper portion of the phone. The protrusion on the back is much less noticeable than on the Find N3. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 also has three cameras on the back, and they’re located in the top-left corner. They’re vertically-aligned. OPPO’s handset comes with IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 certifications, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 supports IP48 certification.
OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Display
The OPPO Find N5 features an 8.12-inch foldable LTPO OLED main display. That display is foldable, and it offers a resolution of 2248 x 2480. It can project up to 1 billion colors, while Dolby Vision and HDR10+ are supported, as is HDR Vivid. Its refresh rate is adaptive (1-120Hz), while the peak brightness here is 2,100 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 90%, by the way.
OPPO Find N5
The cover display on the phone measures 6.62 inches. It’s an LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2616 x 1140. It has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and it can project up to 1 billion colors. Dolby Vision is supported, as is HDR10+ content and HDR Vivid too. The peak brightness here is 2,450 nits. This display is protected by the Nanocrystal Glass.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6, on the other hand, comes with a 7.6-inch Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED main display. This display also has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and it supports HDR10+ content. Its peak brightness is 2,600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is at around 91%, and the resolution is 1856 x 2160.
On the other hand, the cover display measures 6.3 inches, and it’s a Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display. It offers an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and a resolution of 2376 x 968 pixels. It has a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, while the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning is in charge of protecting it.
All four of these displays are actually really good. They’re bright, vivid, and have good viewing angles. We also had no issues with touch response, They also get bright enough when they need to, all of them, basically. The OPPO Find N5 does have the advantage of supporting high-frequency PWM dimming, in case you have sensitive eyes.
OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Performance
OPPO’s new foldable is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, its 7-core version. That is a 3nm processor. The company also included 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside of the phone, along with 512GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, on the other hand, is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, an overclocked version of the standard version of the chip. This phone includes 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. Neither handset supports storage expansion, by the way.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 does have a less powerful chip, a generation before the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The thing is, the difference is not that big at all, at least in terms of general performance, even though the Snapdragon 8 Elite is more powerful, no doubt about that. OPPO’s phone, on the other hand, offers more RAM. Both smartphones do a great job in terms of performance, though. There’s no lag on either phone, no matter how hard you push them during your daily routine. We really put threw everything we had on both, and they both passed with flying colors. If you do a direct comparison, however, the OPPO Find N5 is a bit snappier.
The same can be said for gaming, actually. Yes, both of these phones can run games immensely well, and that goes for high-end games too. Yes, both phones do get quite warm if you’re pushing them hard with games, but not too warm. They both do a good job with cooling, though the Find N5 does have an advantage in that area. In any case, you’ll be good to go performance-wise regardless of which phone you choose.
OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Battery
The OPPO Find N5 features a 5,600mAh battery on the inside. OPPO used a silicon-carbon battery here, which explains how it managed to fit it on the inside. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a much smaller 4,400mAh battery. It does have smaller displays, but this is quite a major difference in terms of battery capacity. Does the OPPO Find N5 offer better battery life, though? Well, yes, notably better, even though the Fold 6 is not bad in that regard, not at all.
Just to give you an idea of how good the OPPO Find N5’s battery life is. After a day and 10 hours of use, we managed to cross the 10-hour screen-on-time threshold, and have like 3% left in the tank. In that time, gaming was not a part of our usage, but everything else was, pretty much. The main display was used about a third of the time. The point is, you can get 9+ hours of screen-on time here, comfortably, at least we did.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come close to such numbers, but crossing the 7-hour screen-on-time is easily possible, which will be more than enough for the vast majority of people. Your mileage may vary, though, of course, as your usage will be different than hours, as will the signal, apps, and so on.
When it comes to charging, the OPPO Find N5 simply obliterates the Galaxy Z Fold 6. It comes with 80W wired, 50W wireless, and reverse wired charging. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. On top of the fact the Find N5 charges much faster, it also comes with a charger in the retail box, at least its global variant does.
OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: Cameras
Both of these phones have three cameras on the back, but the implementations are different. The OPPO Find N5 features a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel periscope telemacro unit (1/2.75-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom), and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera (1/4-inch sensor size, 116-degree FoV). Hasselblad’s color calibration is also a part of the picture.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
The Galaxy Z Fold 6, on the other hand, has a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.57-inch sensor size), along with a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.94-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom), and a 12-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/3.2-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV). So neither device has the very best camera hardware out there, not even close. Still, they both do a good job.
The main cameras on the two phones are good, but they take different pictures. The Find N5 prefers contrastier shots, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 leans more on the warmer side of the color temperature, and also still tends to oversaturate at times. The sharpening is more pronounced on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Sharpening becomes more apparent on both phones as the light goes away, so in low-light situations. We did prefer the results from the Find N5 most of the time.
When it comes to zoomed-in shots, the OPPO Find N5 wins without a doubt, and it’s not even close. It simply provides better pictures in essentially all scenarios. The Galaxy Z Fold 6’s camera sensor is considerably smaller, and the phone doesn’t even offer a periscope telephoto camera, not to mention a telemacro one. Neither ultrawide camera is all that special, but in all honesty, we preferred the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s. We did stay away from both at almost all times, though, they’re simply not that good.
Audio
If you’re wondering about audio, both of these phones come with stereo speakers. Neither set is anything special, in all honesty, as they’re both a bit quieter than we’re used to on flagship smartphones. Still, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 does bring more volume than the OPPO Find N5, and both sound satisfactory. They’re both loud enough and offer good sound output.
There is no audio jack on either of these two smartphones. You can utilize their Type-C ports for the same purpose, though, if you want. Alternatively, you do have access to Bluetooth 5.4 on the OPPO Find N5, and Bluetooth 5.3 on the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The post Phone Comparisons: OPPO Find N5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

OPPO managed to gain a lot of attention with the launch of its new foldable and for a good reason.
