Well, if you own a Chromecast (2nd Gen), then that might not be a possibility. Right now, people using that model of Chromecast are dealing with an Untrusted device message, and this is rendering them pretty much useless for some apps.
If you think that Google has finally dropped support for this device, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Your device is still supported. Also, Google acknowledged that this is a bug on Monday, and it’s working on a fix.
Chromecast (2nd Gen) devices are facing an Untrusted device message
Google is pretty tight when it comes to security, so it won’t let a device function its platform that it doesn’t recognize. So, if you’re not using a trusted device, you’ll be barred from using certain apps and functions. This is something that’s happening to a bunch of people using Google’s second Chromecast device.
People trying to cast from apps like YouTube get a popup saying “Untrusted device. TV Gen 2 couldn’t be verified. This could be caused by outdated device firmware.” What makes it worse is that the application closes once you press the Close button. It blocks the user from using the application.
The weird thing is that it’s only affecting the second-gen Chromecast. Newer models aren’t experiencing this issue. So, this added fuel to the assumption that Google secretly killed this off to push people to newer models.
We’re not sure what it will take to fix this issue, it seems like something that can be fixed relatively quickly. So, keep an eye out for any new updates.
However, if you are looking to upgrade, then you might want to look into a new Google TV Streamer. This is the successor to the Chromecast line. While it’s a bit pricier at $99, it comes with some great features. The device comes with Google TV, 4K resolution, Ethernet, a fast processor, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and more features. It’s a great device to upgrade to.
The post It seems that Google doesn’t trust some of its own Chromecasts appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Are you looking to kick back and relax and stream a little bit of TV to end the night?
