So, they are currently making minor changes to pre-order and launch dates, to better meet that demand.
Motorola noted in its comment that it is still „working to determine the appropriate quantity and schedule to ensure that more consumers have access to razr at launch.” It went on to note that it doesn’t „anticipate a significant shift from our original availability timeline.”
Motorola’s play on nostalgia has made the razr more popular than expected
With its first foldable phone, Motorola decided to play on a bit of nostalgia and go back to the razr name.
This isn’t the first time Motorola has done this actually. It used the razr name on a line of DROID smartphones a few years ago. And it did not go over too well.
But things are different this time. The new Motorola razr is a foldable phone that actually acts like a flip phone, but the inside is all screen now. So it is very reminiscent of the old-school razr flip phone.
That’s likely not the only reason why people are so excited though, for this smartphone. It’s also a foldable phone, that seems to have fixed all of the issues that others like the Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X had. And it’s also cheaper. The Galaxy Fold is $1980, with the Huawei Mate X being north of €2000 (making it pretty expensive if it were ever to launch in the US).
The Motorola razr comes in at just $1499.
Motorola razr is exclusive to Verizon in the US and won’t be sold elsewhere
This is the one time where selling a phone exclusively on one carrier and in one country actually makes sense.
With a new product like the razr, you really don’t want to be making thousands of these phones, only for them to go unsold.
Motorola is selling it only at Verizon and only in the US. So the pool of potential customers is much smaller. though it’s larger than Motorola first thought. Which is a good thing for Motorola – a company who has struggled to actually sell smartphones in the past few years.
Unfortunately though, Motorola has not given us a new date for pre-orders or for when the razr might launch. Originally, pre-orders were set for December 26, and the launch was for some time in January.
The post Motorola razr Pre-Orders Slightly Delayed Due To Overwhelming Demand appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

The pre-orders for the Motorola razr have been delayed, but only slightly.
