Back in December 2016, Google discontinued the Pebble brand, and it held onto the source code for the operating system for nearly a decade. Not too long ago, the company released the source code. Now, the original creator of the Pebble smartwatch, Eric Migicovsky, has released some new models, the RePebble Core Duo 2 and RePebble Core Time 2!
These are the debut smartwatches from the brand RePebble. Since Google buried the company back in 2016, Migicovsky couldn’t use the Pebble name. That’s pretty sad, as he is the one who founded the company. In any case, these two smartwatches are available to pre-order today.
The Pebble brand lives on in the new RePebble smartwatches
If you were expecting a pleasant blast from the past with these new watches, you won’t be disappointed. The new RePebble watches come with the same boxy design that reminds us of the older models. While boxy, they’re still pretty sleek, and they stand out from other smartwatches on the market. We see that the company didn’t take inspiration from the competition.
Starting off with the RePebble Core 2 Duo
This is the less premium of the two. It comes with a 1.2-inch black and white display (144 x 168) that uses e-paper technology. It’s a rectangular design, though it doesn’t mimic what you see with the Apple Watch.
You’re not getting quite a premium design, as it has a polycarbonate body. However, you’re buying a RePebble wearable for simplicity, not luxury. The plus side is that it’s an exact reproduction of the Pebble 2 from back in the day. Along with that, this watch comes with a barometer and a compass.
If longevity is a priority for you, then you’ll love the 30-day battery life. This is up from seven days from the Pebble 2. Maybe you’d fancy a swim, well, the RePebble Core 2 Duo is IPX8 water resistant.
All in all, this is a pretty big upgrade over the Pebble 2, and it will feel just like home for people who miss the brand.
Source: RePebble
The RePebble Core 2 will launch in July 2025 at a price of $149.
Next, the RePebble Core Time 2
This watch’s screen is a bit bigger at 1.5 inches, and it’s a color e-ink display. This makes for a more attractive viewing experience. It’s actually 53% larger than the Pebble Time 2’s display and it has 88% more pixels (200 x 288). This means that you’ll have a much sharper screen. The flat glass lens gives you less glare and reflections than what you got with the Pebble Time family. As an added bonus, the screen is touch-sensitive.
Unlike the RePebble Core 2 Duo, the Core Time 2 has a metal frame with metal buttons. This gives it a more premium feeling.
Oddly, the RePebble Core Time 2 doesn’t have a barometer and compass like the Core 2 Duo. However, it does have a heart rate monitor.
Source: RePebble
The RePebble Core Time 2 will ship starting in December 2025 at $225. Since it launches so late in the year, there’s a chance that you won’t get it before the beginning of 2026.
Shared features
There are some features that the Core Time 2 has over the Duo, but there are also some features that come with both devices. Both devices share the iconic designs we saw with past Pebble devices, step tracking, sleep tracking, vibration motors, IPX8 water resistance, a microphone, a speaker, and compatibility with 10,000+ PebbleOS apps and watch faces.
While these watches won’t ship until later in the year, you can pre-order them now.
The post Back From The Dead: Here Are The New (Re)Pebble Watches! appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

No, you’re not seeing ghosts, but you are seeing the spiritual successor to some of the most unique smartwatches to […]

[1

post-15651","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bez-kategorii
["GET
