The Institute for Progress (IFP), a non-partisan U.S. think tank focused on innovation policy, announced a new project that highlights responses to the Trump Administration\u2019s request for public comment on what should be included in a national \u201cAI Action Plan.\u201d OSI\u2019s comment with the Apereo Foundation was one of 33 comments highlighted in an initial release of IFP\u2019s database. Last week, the White House made the 10,068 comments public and IFP updated their database with analysis of all of the submissions. Three recommendations from OSI and Apereo\u2019s comment are described in the database:<\/p>\n
Encourage the development and adoption of Open Source AI<\/p>\n
Establish a common definition of Open Source AI<\/p>\n
Promote a data commons approach for AI development\u00a0<\/p>\n
The think tank used a variety of tools to analyze the public comments and extract specific recommendations. The recommendations are organized into 20 topics including Export Controls, Infrastructure, Security, Open Source, and Standards & Regulations. The Open Source category has 156 recommendations from 123 organizations\/businesses. The database is a helpful resource that anyone can use to explore submissions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Support transparency in AI procurement, development and use (Electronic Frontier Foundation)<\/p>\n
