Alienware first announced its new monitor as part of CES 2025. At the time, it didn’t announce an official launch date for the product, but did say it was coming a little later this year. A little later this year happens to be this week, as US consumers can now purchase the monitor directly from Dell. The big deal with this monitor is the price. QD-OLED monitors and TVs can still be pretty expensive. Yet, Alienware is launching this new version of the 34-inch QD-OLED at a cheaper price than the previous model when it launched. It also comes with more than a few upgrades, as well as an all-new design language.

The Alienware 240Hz QD-OLED monitor comes in at a much cheaper price than its predecessor

Alienware’s QD-OLED refresh has lots to offer for the gamer looking to snag a nice upgrade. That being said, the biggest part of the upgrade is the price that Alienware is charging for this 240Hz monitor. When the company launched the AW3423DW QD-OLED back in 2023, it launched at a price of $1,299.99. That’s a staggering price for any gaming monitor.

So, when Alienware confirmed the price of this new version would be hundreds of dollars less, it was a big surprise. A nice one, at that. At $799.99, the monitor is getting a $500 price drop from its predecessor. Which sort of proves that QD-OLED tech inside monitor panels is getting less expensive. Or at least that it can be.

Another big change is the design language. Most notably, the color of the monitor and its more reserved base. While the last model had an A-shaped base with feet that jutted outward, this new version is a small, rounded rectangle. It has a smaller footprint, which means it takes up less desk space. So you have more room for other things.

Are cheaper QD-OLED monitors becoming the norm?

As evidenced by Sony’s new Bravia II QD-OLED TVs, it’s clear that some QD-OLED displays are still incredibly high-priced. However, that isn’t necessarily going to be the case for monitors. Not on the same scale, anyway. Obviously, part of the reason these are cheaper is because of the size. They’re much smaller than a TV. It’s also worth noting that not all QD-OLED monitors are going to be this low in price.

MSI’s MPG 321URXW QD-OLED monitor, for example, still retails for $999.99. This is also a monitor from 2024, and it’s still more expensive than Alienware’s new offering. So we wouldn’t say that Alienware launching a QD-OLED for about $800 is definitive proof that QD-OLED gaming monitors are going to continue getting cheaper and cheaper. It does, however, showcase that this could be an emerging trend. Alienware’s last QD-OLED was extremely popular. If this new model is just as good, other companies may have to follow suit with lower prices to compete.
The post Alienware’s new 240Hhz monitor shows QD-OLED prices are dropping appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Alienware has officially launched its new 240Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor, setting the price of the refreshed model at $799.99.
