GTA VI has been the talk of the town since the first official trailer was revealed back in December of 2023, and since then, fans have been chomping at the bit to see the second trailer. As of this week, Rockstar Games finally released it, along with another key piece of information \u2013 the release date. There have been plenty of reports regarding the sixth mainline installment of Rockstar\u2019s popular Grand Theft Auto series, including the recent report about the game\u2019s delay. This is despite initial confirmation that it would release in the Fall of 2025.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, despite Rockstar\u2019s many efforts and its multiple statements about the game being on track, GTA VI was delayed, and it now launches in 2026. At the time of the delay announcement, there was no mention of a new release date. Luckily, the second GTA VI trailer includes one.<\/p>\n
Second GTA VI trailer reveals May 2026 release date<\/p>\n
Fans looking forward to playing the highly anticipated game this Fall will have to wait at least six more months before they\u2019re able to dive in. With the release of the second trailer today, Rockstar confirms that the game\u2019s new release date will be May 26, 2026. Assuming the game would have launched sometime before December, that\u2019s quite the delay. However, it\u2019ll likely give Rockstar time to ensure GTA VI is as polished as it possibly can be.<\/p>\n
The new trailer looks to be mostly cinematic footage, just like the first one. Having said that, all of the cinematics are different from the ones in the initial trailer. So players are getting a fresh look at additional clips from the game.<\/p>\n
Fans can now learn more about the characters with official backstories<\/p>\n
The information surrounding GTA VI has been very scarce up until this point. However, Rockstar has now filled the game\u2019s landing page with a lot more details about Vice City and its lively inhabitants. Particularly, backstories about some of the game\u2019s main characters. We\u2019ve always known that Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos were the two main protagonists in this game. However, there wasn\u2019t really any information about either of them out there.<\/p>\n
That changes now. If you head to the game\u2019s main page, you can find backstories about both Jason and Lucia. Additionally, there are some backstories about a few other main characters as well, including Cal Hampton, Bobbie Ike, Dre\u2019Quan Priest, and an influencer duo called Real Dimez. There are a few other members of the in-game cast listed if you want to dig in more. You might as well, too, since you\u2019re now waiting several more months to play GTA VI. Why not learn more about the game\u2019s lore in the downtime? GTA VI will release next year for PS5 and Xbox Series X. It should also be coming to PC at some point.
