However, the company seems convinced that slimness is the way to go. According to a recent report, Samsung is doubling down on sleek design, and its 2026 flagship phones are rumored to be the next big beneficiary. The Galaxy S26 series could boast impressive thinness and a nice camera zoom upgrade.

The Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t the only proof of Samsung’s design direction. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also rumored to be incredibly thin. While the Galaxy S26 lineup won’t boast the S25 Edge’s thickness, it will be thinner than the other models in the family.

Samsung will bet on thinness in the Galaxy S26 series

According to Ice Universe on Weibo, both the standard Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus are tipped to boast a remarkably slim profile, coming in at around 6.x mm thick. Even the powerful Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to shed some significant millimeters, with a projected thickness of approximately 7.x mm. To put that into perspective, the current Galaxy S25 Ultra measures a more substantial 8.2 mm. Meanwhile, the S25 Plus and standard S25 are around 7.3 mm and 7.2 mm, respectively. That’s a noticeable diet across the entire lineup.

This latest report offers us more specific details about the “thinness range” of the Galaxy S26 series. However, a previous leak had already revealed something like this would happen. At the time, the source said it would all be thanks to some clever engineering in the camera department. More specifically, Samsung could implement a brand-new structure for its camera optics.

Improved 3x telephoto lens: now 12MP

But the potential enhancements don’t stop at the phone’s profile. The Galaxy S26 series is also rumored to feature an improved 3x telephoto lens. Currently, every phone in the Galaxy S25 lineup uses a 10MP 3x telephoto lens (except the “Edge” variant, which does not have a telephoto lens at all). However, the S26 series could see a welcome bump in resolution for this particular lens, moving up to 12MP. This increase in megapixels should translate directly into sharper, more detailed zoomed-in photos for every model in the S26 family. Let’s hope the sensor gets other improvements, such as a larger aperture or size, for example.

It’s noteworthy that, according to reports, a Galaxy S26 Edge could replace the “Plus” model in 2026. It seems Samsung hasn’t made a final decision on the matter. Sales of the S25 Edge will likely have a significant influence.

Of course, it’s important to remember that these are still early reports. Specifications can always evolve before launch. However, the prospect of a thinner, more ergonomic Galaxy S26 lineup paired with an enhanced telephoto lens is definitely something to keep your eye on.
The post Galaxy S26 Series Tipped for Super-Slim Design & Sharper Zoom appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy S25 Edge as a sort of “test” to gauge public interest in super-thin mobile devices.
