However, the Mac has remained tethered. But according to a new report based on internal Apple code, that’s all about to change with a 5G-supported MacBook. This is in addition to rumors of an affordable MacBook powered by iPhone chips.

Apple reportedly testing an M5 MacBook Pro with 5G support

A new leak suggests that Apple is actively testing an unreleased MacBook Pro with a built-in 5G modem. This is big news, and it’s powered by the next-generation M5 Pro chip. This in itself is an exciting possibility. However, the most exciting part of this discovery is the presence of Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, codenamed “Centauri.”

This is the same modem, also known as C1, that Apple first introduced earlier this year in the iPhone 16e. The fact that it’s now being tested on a Mac suggests that the company has a working, power-efficient solution for its laptops. Apple likes to control as much as possible both the hardware and software in its products. Self-supply 5G modem and the central chip will allow the firm to create a seamless and optimized experience that would have been difficult to achieve with third-party components.

What to expect and when

This leak points to the M5 MacBook Pro, which is now rumored to launch in early 2026. The evidence comes from internal code and isn’t a guarantee that the feature will ship. However, it’s the strongest sign yet that a truly untethered MacBook could arrive sooner than you think. It’s also possible the cellular feature could eventually make its way to the M5 MacBook Air as well. Anyway, the feature may remain a Pro-exclusive for a time.

The possibility of working on a MacBook from anywhere with a 5G connection is quite interesting. This would be a major step forward for the Mac lineup, giving users the kind of freedom and flexibility they’ve long been waiting for. Let’s hope more news about this emerges soon.
The post An Apple 5G-Enabled MacBook Pro Could Finally Be On The Way appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

For years, it has been a common wish among laptop users: a Mac that can connect to the internet without […]

[1

post-17647","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bez-kategorii
["GET
