For those with deep pockets and fat wallets, Samsung now offers an 8TB model of its 9100 Pro SSD, and as you might have guessed, it comes with a hefty price tag. The kind of price tag that some people might look at and ask themselves, \u201cDo I really need to pay rent this month?\u201d High prices are nothing new when it comes to storage products at this large a capacity, and it\u2019s hardly the first SSD that\u2019s come to market at this price point.<\/p>\n
Having said that, it doesn\u2019t make it any easier to swallow when you see an SSD that costs a significant portion of what most people pay for their rent each month. This variant of the 9100 Pro will start at $999.99, and this is for the model without the heatsink. If you want the heatsink model, you\u2019ll end up spending $1,019.99. It\u2019s not cheap, but it would surely set you up to never need any more storage for as long as you keep your current gaming PC. Which, if it\u2019s new enough, could be for the next five years at least.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re in the market for a new SSD, and the price of Samsung\u2019s latest 8TB option doesn\u2019t deter you, then today is your lucky day. Because you can pre-order the drive starting on August 2. Of course, you can get the SSD directly from Samsung, but you can also pick it up on Amazon. However, Amazon only has the heatsink variant currently. It\u2019s also worth noting that Amazon will let you add it to your cart and pay for it, but it\u2019s still currently out of stock and has no listed ship date.<\/p>\n
If you go through Samsung, the company has stock for all pre-orders at the moment. The 8TB 9100 Pro will ship on or by September 23. So, there are still a few more weeks to wait before it shows up for anyone.<\/p>\n
The Samsung 9100 Pro features blazing-fast read and write speeds of up to 14,800\/13,400 MB\/s. It\u2019s PCIe 5.0, but it\u2019s also backward compatible with older PCIe motherboards. It also supports the Samsung Magician software. You\u2019ll want to install this if you use it inside your PC, because it allows you to monitor the drive\u2019s stats and other information.<\/p>\n
