Capcom has officially put all the cards on the table by confirming the cast for its upcoming Street Fighter movie. The film will be produced by Legendary Pictures, and it\u2019s already beginning production. Capcom made the announcement on September 5 via the official Street Fighter Movie X account. Street Fighter isn\u2019t new to the big screen, but this will be its first time as part of a big film production in quite some time. It makes sense that Capcom would want to tackle this project after the success of films like the Mortal Kombat reboot, which is set to get its second film soon.<\/p>\n
The Street Fighter Movie might not have a full cast yet, but it appears to have what may be the majority of the cast. It\u2019s a zany mashup with a few people you might not expect. Eric Andre, for example, has joined the film. This might seem like a weird choice at first, but it\u2019s less strange when you factor in who his role is. Andre will be playing Don Sauvage, a character from the franchise who is known for being verbose and lively. Sauvage is also an announcer in the games, not a fighter. Andre is likely to be the perfect fit here. The cast also contains the likes of 50 Cent as Balrog, and Jason Momoa as Blanka. There are more than a few wrestlers being cast for some of the other fighters as well.<\/p>\n
Street Fighter is the second game franchise to have a movie-related announcement this week. Activision and Paramount have reportedly reached an agreement to release an official Call of Duty movie. Like Street Fighter, it will also be live-action.<\/p>\n

Capcom hasn\u2019t just announced what could be the majority of the movie\u2019s cast, but it has also announced a release date. The film has started production, with a release date set for October 16, 2026. That puts the film a little more than a year away.<\/p>\n
A basic outline of the narrative appears to have popped up. As Wccftech notes, The Hollywood Reporter states that the film is set in 1993. Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li appear to be the main characters, as Chun-Li will \u201crecruit Ryu and Ken\u201d for the next World Warrior Tournament.<\/p>\n
They\u2019ll ultimately end up fighting each other, though likely due to some yet unforeseen circumstances. Perhaps M.Bison is behind it. He\u2019s one of the franchise\u2019s main villains, after all. The cast that\u2019s been confirmed so far includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Orville Peck as Vega, 50 Cent as Balrog, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric Andre as Don Sauvage, Mel Jarnson as Cammy, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe.<\/p>\n
Some of the castings may seem strange, but they make sense if you look deeper<\/p>\n
Many of these castings make sense. Even Andrew Schulz\u2019s Dan Hibiki seems to be a good fit. Hibiki\u2019s character is supposed to be an overconfident and arrogant fighter who views himself as a superior one. Schulz will probably be able to pull these personality traits off quite well. Of course, the best casting is probably Zangief, played by Olivier Richters. Not only does Richters fit the size of the character, but he has a similar look. He\u2019s also been in several roles where he ends up needing to fight in some capacity.<\/p>\n
Take his role in the most recent season of Reacher, for example. Richters plays his role as hired security throughout the season perfectly. Having to square up with Reacher on more than one occasion before the season is over, and is able to hold his own with little effort.<\/p>\n
