Qualcomm\u2019s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is coming pretty soon, and that\u2019s a good thing for mobile gamers as it\u2019s supposed to bring noticeable improvements to game performance while also using up less power. Of course, no one likely expects the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to perform poorly with games. This will be Qualcomm\u2019s latest flagship chipset, and its flagship chipsets are always excellent performers when it comes to mobile games. That doesn\u2019t mean there isn\u2019t room for improvement, and it looks like Qualcomm is looking to make those gains.<\/p>\n

A new leak details part of what users can expect once the new chip comes to market and ultimately starts making its way into flagship smartphones. That could be sometime later this year, though most phones with it will likely start coming out at the beginning of next year. The Galaxy S26 series should be one of these phones.<\/p>\n

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to boost game performance with higher frame rates<\/p>\n

According to a new leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo (via Wccftech), the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is going to bring better frame rates in mobile games. In Digital Chat Station\u2019s post, it\u2019s mentioned that the latest prototype of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has been tested, and frame rates were better while the chip was also more power efficient.<\/p>\n

Power consumption is a big deal when it comes to phones because games can be a huge drain on the battery. Any amount of improvement on power consumption is a big deal, as it\u2019ll ultimately mean your phone can last longer on a single charge.<\/p>\n

According to the leak, the power consumption of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is supposed to drop by about 5W. The current test reportedly saw the power consumption drop by 1W. So, there\u2019s still a little way to go. It\u2019s also worth noting that none of this has been confirmed. So far, Qualcomm hasn\u2019t shown any evidence of tests. That being said, the chip is supposed to be coming later this month. If that happens, then it won\u2019t be long before actual confirmed tests are made public.
