Atari is back with the launch of another gaming device called the Gamestation Go (did you know Atari also made a smartwatch?). It houses a ton of retro games that you may or may not have played growing up. Unlike the initial versions of those games, however, the Gamestation Go lets you play them in an all-new format with updated controls and extra features.<\/p>\n
In fact, there are quite a few advanced features that you probably could have only dreamt of having on an old-school Atari machine as a kid. For example, the Gamestation Go comes with built-in Wi-Fi so that you can easily update your handheld and the included games. The handheld also features an integrated paddle, trak-ball, and keypad. These are in addition to the d-pad and action buttons, as well as triggers and bumpers up top. So, gameplay should feel just as familiar as it always has because you\u2019ll have the controls you\u2019re used to.<\/p>\n
The Atari Gamestation Go will launch with over 200 games<\/p>\n
Retro game fans are in for a real treat as the Gamestation Go handheld will launch with over 200 games on the device. That means you can whip it out anytime you want and boot up a game from those olden days. The handheld will be available in October, and it retails for $179.99. It\u2019ll be available from GameStop as well as directly from Atari\u2019s website. Pre-orders are already live, too.<\/p>\n
While these kinds of things have a tendency to go out of stock fairly quickly, the official announcement about this handheld from Atari was made back on September 8. Both Atari and GameStop show stock with the ability to pre-order. So you can probably rule out the stock depleting.<\/p>\n
Necessary game controls will be illuminated<\/p>\n
One really neat feature that players will likely grow fond of is the SmartGlow technology that Atari has implemented for this handheld. The company says it \u201cmakes gameplay intuitive,\u201d and the feature does so by illuminating the controls that are needed for each game.<\/p>\n
For example, say you don\u2019t need the paddle for a certain game, but you do need the trak-ball and the keypad. The trak-ball and the keypad would be illuminated. The handheld also comes with a full-color HD display that\u2019s 7 inches in size. Plus, it has USB-C for charging and HDMI for TV hookup.<\/p>\n
