The lower price of the technology has allowed its implementation even in affordable devices, without increasing costs too much. That said, budget OLED panels are far from being the best on the market, presenting some color representation drawbacks. But what if a new LCD screen offered better features? With that in mind, BOE has introduced the IPS LC-based “ADS Pro” display with high brightness levels and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

BOE’s new LCD ISP “ADS Pro” display is a game-changer for affordable phones

BOE’s new ADS Pro isn’t just another LCD screen. It’s a new kind of display that brings some serious high-end features to the masses. It’s an IPS LCD with some high-end features but intended for affordable phones.

The specs for this new display are really impressive. The 6.74-inch panel sports a sharp 1.5K resolution—around 443 pixels per inch (ppi). That said, the real showstoppers are the refresh rate and brightness. The new panel supports a variable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz—also available in 120Hz. This means scrolling and gaming will be smooth as butter. For context, many budget phones still offer a basic 60Hz or 90Hz at max

Even more notable is the screen’s ability to reach a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. This level of brightness makes the display easy to read, even in direct sunlight. Peak brightness has always been one of the weak points of IPS LCD displays compared to OLEDs. However, BOE’s new ADS Pro displays deliver a peak brightness that’s quite good for the devices it aims at.

20% more energy efficient

All of this comes with an added bonus: the display is about 20% more power-efficient than other panels in its class. This could lead to longer battery life on phones that use it. Another advantage of OLED displays is their energy savings, thanks to their ability to completely turn off individual pixels. However, BOLE’s new technology could offset this with its efficiency advances.

So, where will you find this fantastic screen? Not on a pricey flagship. The new ADS Pro display targets budget-friendly smartphones. Reports suggest that it will appear in devices priced at around $200 or less. The specs of the screen are more impressive if you consider this price.

BOE could need this tech boost in the midst of its legal battle against Samsung. Recall that the company received a harsh preliminary ruling against it in the case. More specifically, BOE was banned from the US market for the next 14 years and 8 months.
The post BOE’s New LCD Display Brings High-End Features to Budget Phones appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

OLED displays are increasingly present in smartphones of all categories.
