Apple just announced its new iPhone 17 series, but it looks like we\u2019re over it because rumors of the iPhone 18 have already begun. According to a post on Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 18 Pro prototypes have already been completed. If you plan to hold off on the iPhone 17 this year, here\u2019s what you can expect.<\/p>\n

In the post, the tipster claims that Apple has already completed the prototypes of the iPhone 18 Pro. Note that this doesn\u2019t necessarily mean the company is done with the phone. It could be that this is the version that they\u2019re satisfied with for now. We imagine that Apple could make more changes further down the line depending on the feedback it receives.<\/p>\n
So, what can we look forward to in the iPhone 18 Pro? Based on the current prototype, not much. We can\u2019t say we\u2019re too surprised. Apple typically keeps its iPhone designs around for a few generations, so the iPhone 18 Pro won\u2019t look too different from the current models.<\/p>\n
Digital Chat Station claims that it will feature the same matrix deco design, the same triple camera layout, and the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays. However, they claim the phones will feature a \u201cnew screen form factor,\u201d whatever that means. Apple will continue using a built-in stainless steel vapor chamber system. However, the spliced glass on the back of the phone will feature a slightly more transparent design.<\/p>\n
Overall, this isn\u2019t going to be a massive departure from the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. But if you don\u2019t see the need to upgrade to the iPhone 17, then maybe the iPhone 18 could be worth waiting for.<\/p>\n
Other changes we can expect<\/p>\n
While Digital Chat Station does not explicitly mention it, we can probably look forward to Apple using the A20 chipset for the iPhone 18 series. This is particularly exciting because the A20 will be the first 2nm chipset from Apple. The A19 series is still built using TSMC\u2019s 3nm process, but the A20 will see Apple shift to using TSMC\u2019s 2nm process. The smaller process means that the chipset should be faster and also more efficient.<\/p>\n
There is also no word on whether Apple could transition to an under-display camera system. We\u2019ve been hearing rumors that Apple could start making the shift to under-display technology. However, the latest rumors aren\u2019t particularly encouraging. A recent leak by Instant Digital claims Apple won\u2019t use an under-display Face ID system for the iPhone 18. Either way, it\u2019s still too early to tell what features will or will not make the cut. So, until we get official word, take it with a grain of salt.
