A large set of leaked animations has revealed multiple details about the device. The possible presence of a powerful 100x camera zoom is among the most interesting improvements. However, the leaked animations also show software features with which Samsung wants to position its first Galaxy Z tri-fold phone as a “portable desktop.”

The central focus of these leaks (courtesy of @TechHighest on X/Twitter) is productivity and seamless multitasking, leveraging the device’s immense screen real estate.

Floating windows and desktop power for Samsung’s firsts Galaxy Z tri-fold

The most significant change is the desktop-like way the tri-fold handles applications. Users will reportedly be able to run apps as floating windows, allowing them to freely shift, resize, and manage multiple open applications at once. This functionality immediately gives the tri-fold the feel of a compact laptop or a full-fledged tablet. It would offer far more flexibility than current standard split-screen setups.

Multitasking gets an overhaul, too. The device allows users to stack two apps on top of one another on half the screen, with easy drag-and-drop actions available to reposition these windows instantly. Furthermore, a quick two-finger press-and-hold gesture from the internal display’s side opens the app drawer. This reinforces the idea of a deeply customizable, gesture-based interface.

Seamless continuity and PC Integration

The tri-fold also focuses heavily on continuity across its multiple displays. The animations show users starting an application on the cover display while the device is folded. When the user opens the tri-fold, the app seamlessly continues onto the larger internal screen, instantly switching from a portrait view to a landscape orientation without interruption.

From the videos we can see here, it seems that once unfolded it will be a lot closer to a tablet software wise with things like DeX compared to the current foldables which are closer to a hybrid https://t.co/nQ7xOkSjWP— Highest (@TechHighest) September 26, 2025

This multi-screen focus extends directly into the computing world via an enhanced version of Samsung DeX. The animations illustrate a robust PC connection where users can drag and drop applications directly from the tri-fold’s interface onto the connected computer screen. The large display of the PC mirrors the tri-fold’s navigation bar and background. This creates a unified ecosystem that makes transferring work between mobile and desktop nearly instantaneous.

Lastly, even the new AI features are designed for productivity. The Galaxy AI sidebar, which provides webpage summaries and other generative tools, can detach from the side of the screen and become its own floating window. This allows users to review summaries or notes without ever having to leave their main application.
The post Samsung’s Galaxy Z Tri-Fold Phone Aims to Be Your Next PC appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z tri-fold is shaping up to be far more than just a triple-folding phone.
