Nintendo is rumored to have been hacked and had some amount of data stolen, with the hack said to have taken place recently. As of right now, Nintendo hasn\u2019t acknowledged the hack or confirmed that a breach has taken place, and it\u2019s unclear if it plans to do so.<\/p>\n

As of right now, the chances of Nintendo having been hacked seem just as good as the possibility that it wasn\u2019t. It\u2019s also unclear what exactly may have been stolen, though, according to the hacker group, it revolves around \u201cNintendo topics files,\u201d whatever those happen to be.<\/p>\n

Crimson Collective claims to have hacked Nintendo and stolen topic files<\/p>\n

Claims of the hack come from the Crimson Collective, which has also reportedly hacked a few other high-profile companies recently. This includes Red Hat, a software company that the Crimson Collective hacked this month. Details of the hack were initially reported by a Cybersecurity firm named Hackmanac on X, and then spotted by Wccftech.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, it isn\u2019t clear what the Crimson Collective has stolen, other than the Nintendo topic files that the group references. A screenshot of the files was shared, with the Crimson Collective claiming credit for the breach. What the topic files contain is what\u2019s unknown, so it could be anything from user data to sensitive company data.<\/p>\n

That being said, if user data is in any way included, Nintendo would likely make it known to the public, so precautions could be taken to protect your personal data. At least, that\u2019s the hope. The hack has seemingly taken place as of October 10 or earlier, as this is when Hackmanac posted about the hack on X. So, it\u2019s been a few days since then, and as of yet, Nintendo hasn\u2019t responded. This could mean that Nintendo is trying to confirm if there was even a breach. Or, it could be trying to figure out what to do.
