Niantic is bringing back the popular Pokémon GO Water Festival and it starts in just one week. Specifically on August 23, which is just a few days after this week’s events end.
As one might expect the Water Festival is all about water-type Pokémon, which means you’ll be seeing a big increase in water Pokémon coming from just about everywhere in the game. Raids, hatched eggs, roaming about in the wild, all of these places will afford you opportunities to catch them. The Water Festival lasts an entire week too, so players shouldn’t feel hard-pressed to get out and play the moment things go live.
Those willing to dive into the action at any point will have much to look forward to, including water-themed raids. Raids with specific water Pokémon like Vaporeon, Blastoise, and Lapras among others will be showing up throughout the week. There will also be a set of special water Pokémon popping up in five-star raids. These however will only show up on August 28 between 6PM and 7PM local time.
If you’re able to get out and join one of these raids you’ll have the chance to battle Uxie, Mespirit, or Azelf. These Pokémon won’t be available everywhere though. They will be restricted to their respective regions, so you may be able to battle Uxie but not the other two.
Raids are simply one part of the Water Festival so if players miss out on a raid there is plenty of other stuff to experience. For starters, the main feature will be an increase in water-type Pokémon appearing in the wild. There are tons of water-type Pokémon so chances are you’ll stumble upon many of them. Magikarp, Wooper, and Wailmer are just a few to look out for though.
The festival will also see an increase in certain water-types showing up near the actual water, so it might be worth planning a day trip to the beach. Should you do so, you may run into Pokémon like Wartortle, Poliwhirl, Seaking, Mantine and others. All water Pokémon will also hatch more often from eggs. If you’re missing any then saving your eggs for this event or gathering more might not be a bad idea.
Trainers who own Kingler or Crawdaunt will be able to teach them a new move. Keeping with the Water Festival theme, a water-type charge attack called Crabhammer can be taught to those two Pokémon. If you have both of them, both should be able to learn it. That does also mean you’ll have to use them in battles to level them up.
Looking to expand your Pokédex a little with some new Shiny Pokémon? This event will be the time to do so, as you may encounter a Shiny Carvahna or Barboach. These encounters are not a guarantee so the more you play the better your chances are.
Lastly, in addition to all the new features Niantic has added a couple of bonuses to the latest Pokémon GO event too. First, you’ll be able to gain double the amount of hatch candy than you normally would. Second, earning Buddy Candy will be easier as it will take half the time. Only if your buddy Pokémon is a water-type though. Since the festival starts on August 23 and lasts a week, it’ll be over on August 30 at 1PM PST.
Niantic launching the Water Festival for Pokémon GO players within the next week seems like perfect timing. Earlier it announced it would be launching an Ultra Bonus event for players on September 2, and for the rest of this week players can earn bonus items. With the Water Festival on the way it seems like players will have a ton of fun content to engage in.
The post Niantic Brings Back Popular Pokémon GO Water Festival appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

It’s time for Pokémon GO players to put on their best swimsuits and head for the water.
