\nSamsung is still not showing the more powerful and pricier variant of its Galaxy Chromebook, announced at CES in January. The company had initially announced storage up to 1TB and memory at up to 16GB. Only a single configuration is currently represented on either Samsung’s website or Best Buy. That’s the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook base model, shipping with 8GB Memory and 256GB SSD storage.
\nWhat sets the Galaxy Chromebook apart?
\nThis Samsung laptop, as indicated at launch, is set to sell at $999. So it’s among the most expensive Chromebooks to land at the market to-date. That doesn’t necessarily come down to branding and a Galaxy-branding-worthy exterior design though. There’s plenty to set the Galaxy Chromebook apart from the competition.
\nTo begin with, Samsung built its 13.3-inch display around a 4K panel utilizing its AMOLED technology. That’s a first for any Chromebook.
\nTwo 2-watt speakers are part of that package too, as are a standard backlit keyboard, built-in fingerprint scanner, and a dual-camera setup. The snappers are comprised of a 1-megapixel standard webcam and a world-facing 8-megapixel camera. The latter is mounted to the keyboard for use when the gadget is folded into tablet mode.
\nChromebook packs in a 10th Gen Intel Core i5, just for starters. That’s backed up by up to 16GB of RAM. Samsung packs up to a full 1TB SSD drive into the frame alongside that.\u00a0 Under the hood, an Intel Project Athena-tested battery provides over 9-hours of real-world use.
\nAlso built into its frame, aside from an internally-housed S Pen, is a „UFS\/MicroSD Combo” port. That gives users plenty of options when it comes to expanding storage. With a UFC card, users can add an additional 512GB storage. That’s as compared to up to 2TB of additional storage with a standard MicroSD card.
\nSamsung also packed a powerful 10th Gen Intel Core i5 chipset alongside a battery rated at up to 9-hours of real-world use via Intel’s Project Athena. All of that is squeezed into an all-aluminum build weighing in at just 2.29 lb and measuring just 9.9mm thin.
\nBut is this really arriving on April 6?
\nNow, no source has been cited regarding an official April 6 launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. So the news should probably be taken with a grain of salt. The date is the same as was previously spotted on Best Buy’s website but, at the time, Samsung had said that there was no official launch date just yet.
\nAs of this writing, the Best Buy storefront shows both the Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray variants. But that’s shown without any launch date at all now. There’s also not a launch date provided on Samsung’s landing page for the gadget.
