Compared to the same time in 2019, that’s an 11-percent increase for sales in the US.
And to really put things in perspective, this doesn’t take into account any of the people stuck at home playing games in other regions. Many countries around the world have stay at home orders in place. And there’s no doubt that some of those people are playing and spending more money on games too.
US consumers at home are gaming on all platforms
Gaming is most often associated with PC and consoles. But mobile has been a big part of gaming for years now. And while at home there’s a lot more people playing mobile games too.
The report mentions that increases in game spending were seen across mobile, PC, and console in digital format. Increases in spending were also seen across gaming-related subscriptions and hardware and accessories.
So consumers aren’t just spending more money on digital games. They’re also spending more money on game hardware as well as costs associated with playing a game every month. Such as monthly fees for games like Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons & DOOM Eternal were among the best performing games
There were a handful of different games commanding the attention of people these past few months. But ones that stood out from the pack included DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Other top-performing titles included Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, NBA 2K20, Grand Theft Auto V, Fortnite, MLB The Show 20, and Minecraft.
Both DOOM Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone familiar with video games or the industry. As both franchises are extremely popular and both of the latest titles in them released back on March 20.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released last Fall, but it’s also been among one of the most popular games since then. As it usually is with each new release in the series.
When it comes to video game hardware, sales of the Nintendo Switch saw an uptick, which helped to raise the video game hardware sales numbers overall to $773 million across all platforms, while accessories reached $503 million. Overall, video game spending between all these areas totaled $10.86 billion.
The post US Consumers Stuck At Home Are Spending Way More Time Gaming appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

A new report from the NPD group states that US consumers are spending a lot more time gaming while they’re […]

[1

post-3559","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bez-kategorii
["GET
