This information comes from Phone Arena, who calls upon its sources in Korea.
These displays have been certified by the SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), and we’re looking at both 90Hz and 120Hz panels here. These displays will probably be used in the Galaxy S21, and maybe even the Galaxy Note 20 phones, amongst other devices.
The SGS has been established in 1878, and they verify components and finished products for wide range of goods. It’s one of the best-known certification agencies on the planet.
Samsung’s Seamless Display allegedly has 20-50% smoother motion than competing panels
It is claimed that motion is 20-50-percent smoother on these displays than on other 90Hz / 120Hz panels. It remains to be seen how accurate that claim is. These displays will hopefully make their way into actual products soon.
As a reminder, the whole Galaxy S20 series includes 120Hz panels. They include Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED displays. You can choose between 60 and 120Hz refresh rates on those three devices.
It is worth noting that even though all three phones offer QHD+ displays, you cannot use QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate at the same time. Samsung has promised this feature is coming, but at the moment, it’s not possible.
Samsung probably did not include that feature from the get-go as it would kill the battery. It required some extra optimization in order to be able to pull it off.
Now, the Galaxy Note 20+ may be the first phone to feature such a display. The device is rumored to include a 120Hz QHD+ AMOLED LTPO display. That will be the first LTPO display on a smartphone.
The Galaxy Note 20+ could be the first phone to feature such a panel
Well, what better way to usher such a display onto phones than with a brand new branding. So, it seems like the Galaxy Note 20+ will include one such panel.
The Galaxy Note 20, on the other hand, is expected to ship with a 60Hz LTPS display, a regular panel. That information was provided by Ross Young a while back, a well-known analyst.
Things can change before the launch, of course. We would have expected at least a 90Hz panel on the Galaxy Note 20, so the 60Hz choice is a bit odd.
The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+ handsets are expected to arrive in August. There you have it. Samsung’s 'Seamless Display’ panels have been trademarked, and are probably coming soon.
The post Samsung Trademarks 90Hz & 120Hz 'Seamless Display’ appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Samsung has allegedly trademarked two new displays that carry the 'Seamless Display’ branding.
