Fortnite is a game played by millions for numerous reasons, and one of those is the collaboration with pop culture brands like MARVEL.
\nNow Epic Games is teasing a new MARVEL collaboration for Fortnite that could see one of the most popular heroes of all time added to the game as a skin. Players have already been able to grab skins for Pyslocke, Deadpool, Starlord and others.
\nBut not content with the current roster, Epic Games appears to be adding even more characters in the upcoming fourth season of chapter 2 that lands at the end of August. The same season Apple players will be locked out of now that they can’t update the game due to its removal from the App Store.
\nEpic Games teases Thor in new Fortnite\/MARVEL collaboration
\nEarlier this morning Epic teased the new character on its official Twitter page. MARVEL’s official Twitter page tweeted the teaser as well.
\nIn a not so subtle way, both outlets are teasing the arrival of Thor the God of Thunder in chapter 2 season 4. The image graphic is simple enough. It’s just the word „Fortnite” draped across a galactic background. It’s also sitting above the MARVEL logo. But the giveaway is the obscured picture of Thor’s face you can see inside of each letter.
\nThe tweet also adds hammer and lightning bolt emoji. It couldn’t get any more obvious who the next MARVEL hero is to join the game. Thor probably won’t be the last one added into the game either.
\nPerfect timing for both Epic Games and MARVEL
\nAll of this is really perfect timing for both companies. While Epic Games continues its battle with Apple within things like in-game contests where you fight against the latter company, MARVEL is due to get some other big press from its latest game, MARVEL’s Avengers coming from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics, which launches in the beginning of September.
\nThor is one of the playable main characters in that game. So really the timing fits together like a glove. The timing of the tweet also likely has the potential to stir up more emotion from iOS fans.
\nThe more cool stuff added to the game that they can’t have, the more likely Epic Games may be to win them over in its efforts to have them take a side in its legal battle against Apple. Though its entirely possible that the timing of all this is just coincidence.
