Samsung has already started rolling it out to some of its devices in some regions.
\nWhat’s been fixed in this patch?
\nGoogle fixed a ton of vulnerabilities in the October 2020 security patch for Pixel and other Android devices.
\nAs per usual, Google has not detailed each vulnerability. This is done on purpose so that those that have not received the update (which right now, is everyone) is not the victim of an attack. Detailing the vulnerabilities is like giving the keys to hackers, to your device. So this is done to protect everyone. But there are a ton of changes made to Qualcomm and MediaTek devices, as well as vulnerabilities in the Android Runtime and more.
\nThere are no new features with this security update. This does not come with a feature drop like the September patch did. That likely won’t happen again until December. But you may see some bugs being fixed in this update, which Google did not specify, in the security bulletin today.
\nYou can check out the security bulletin here, to see exactly what Google has fixed with this update to Pixels and Android in general.
\nWhat devices are supported in the October security patch?
\nThe October 2020 security patch is rolling out to Pixel devices now. And it supports the Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, and Pixel 4a. The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 should both come with the October 2020 security update installed when they go on sale later this month. If not, there should be an update available out of the box.
\nMost smartphones released in the last two to three years will also be supported. You’ll need to wait for your smartphone manufacturer to roll out the update though.
\nMake sure to update your Pixel device as soon as you get this update, and don’t put it off. Security updates are not great for putting off til later on.
\nThe post The October 2020 Android Security Patch Is Rolling Out To All Pixel Devices appeared first on Android Headlines.
\n
\nSource: ndroidheadlines.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Google is now rolling out the October 2020 Android Security Patch to all Pixel devices.
