After introducing preference pages for various other Assistant features, the latest brings Google Assistant settings for the Android lock screen.
Notably, as per the latest Google Assistant lock screen feature, you will be able to summon the voice assistant even if your phone is locked.
Moreover, the new “Lock screen” menu option is now grouped under the “Popular Settings”. It will include features such as Voice Match, Languages, and Routines.
Furthermore, it will show up the full alphabetical list. On the first launch of this new Google Assistant lock screen feature, you will be greeted with a message about using Assistant without unlocking your Android phone.
The actual message reads,
“Get hands-free help from your Assistant when your phone is locked. You can always turn this off in your Assistant settings. For help with personal info, like calling and messaging your contacts, turn on Voice Match and say “Hey Google” so your Assistant can recognize your voice.“
This new Google Assistant lock screen feature was spotted on Google app 12.24
The new settings, as already mentioned, will be found under the Popular Settings along with the All Settings tab. You will find the Lock screen settings between the Languages and Personalization settings.
Besides, the All Settings tab will show you all the settings alphabetically. After going through the greeting message and hitting the “Yes, I’m in” button on the right corner, you will see two new toggles, i.e. Assistant responses on the lock screen and an additional sub-menu.
If you activate the first “Assistant responses on the lock screen” toggle, it will allow Google Assistant to respond to user queries. But this will work, even if the screen is locked. You can activate this feature via corner swipe or power button hold (available on Android 12 only).
Users can activate Google Assistant by simply saying the “Hey, Google” command. The next toggle will activate personal results without the user’s need to input the voice command.
The new preference option, surprisingly, replaces the Lock Screen option under the Personalization option. It would be quite useful for users at times when both their hands are occupied.
They can simply activate voice Assistant, even if the lock screen is locked. You can try out the feature with the Google app version 12.24, as it seems like the feature is live for everyone.

The post Google Assistant Can Now Be Summoned When Your Phone Is Locked appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

According to a recent report by 9To5Google, Google is now introducing new Assistant features.
