It’s been available to only iOS users since then. Now, thanks to a Telegram group called “Pixels” we know that the feature is starting to hit Android devices.
The Memories widget is only for some users at the moment
Everyone knows that certain features are made available on iOS devices before Android devices, but the story of the Memories widget is a bit extreme. Google made the feature available to iOS users about ten months ago.
Now, according to the Telegram group, this feature is starting to be seen on some select Android devices. Some users who are running version 5.52.0.0387241369 have seen the widget in their widget picker.
By default, the widget will come in a 2×2 size. That’s minuscule, so users will more than likely adjust the size to suit their needs. We’re not sure if you will have any control over the kind of memories that will be displayed in the widget.
The Memories widget is mostly for people who what to see their old photos from time to time but don’t actually go to the Google Photos app a lot. This may push more people to upload their photos to Google photos.
What are Google Photo Memories?
In the Google Photos app, Google will show you some albums called Memories. These albums pop up at the top of your Photos tab for easy viewing.
These are automatically generated photo albums that Google compiles. Memories can display photos that you took on that day in a different year, photos that have similar colors, similar people, or photos taken at certain times. Google hopes people will stumble across these memories.
Another Google Photos update adds haptic feedback to photo scrolling
A minor update to the Google Photos app adds a slight haptic click when you navigate your photos. The update landed not too long ago, so most users should have it.
When you scroll through your pictures, you will feel a small click from your phone’s vibration motor. Each click will represent each month that you pass. You’ll get better clicks if you have a more premium phone. More expensive phones tend to have better vibration motors.
Cheaper phones have cheaper vibration motors, so you will feel more of a smear rather than a series of distinct clicks. If you want to feel for yourself, the update is already out. Check to see if your app is up-to-date if you can’t feel anything.

The post Google Photos Memories Widget Finally Hitting Android Devices appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Google previously released an update to Google Photos that created a Memories widget.
