But this post-pandemic physical schooling could be stressful for both students as well as their parents. Google believes it could help in certain situations. The company has just announced a bunch of new features for Google Assistant and Search to help make learning more fun, while also keeping the family connected as kids head to school.
Family Bell is coming to mobile devices
To start with, Google is bringing Family Bell to mobile devices. The feature is currently available in smart speakers and smart displays and helps users stay on top of their daily routines.
Family Bell will also soon add new, customizable bells that will initiate a checklist on your Nest Hub. This will remind kids to make their beds, brush their teeth, pack their backpacks, and get dressed for school, among other things. On-screen celebratory animations and sounds will cheer them up when they complete a task.

For parents, an upcoming feature will let you set Google Assistant to automatically start your “morning routine, check the weather, and play the news” as soon as you dismiss your morning alarm. All you have to do is add “dismiss an alarm” as the start to your morning routine and you’re all set. This will help you focus on other tasks, such as getting your kids ready for school.
Google Assistant will help you stay connected throughout the day
If you’re worried whether your kids have made it to school safely, Google Assistant is there to help you again. In your family group, simply say “Hey Google, where’s my family?” to know the whereabouts of your kids. You can also use the Family Broadcast feature to regularly send messages to the group throughout the day. These messages will be sent to home devices as well as personal phones. Similarly, Google Assistant will also help you notify your family if you’re arriving home late from the office, once offices reopen, of course.
The Assistant will soon offer new stories for your kids as well. More stories are coming from Pottermore Publishing if your kid is a Harry Potter fan. Additionally, Google has also partnered with award-winning publishing house The English Schoolhouse to bring “more diverse teaching tools and stories to Assistant.”

Learning at home should not stop
If your children are grown up, Google Search has new tools to help with their learning while at home. An interactive periodic table will let them visualize an atom in 3D with Augmented Reality (AR). Students will be able to zoom in to see the electrons orbiting the nucleus. Learning couldn’t have been more fun.
Last but not least, Search is picking up a new “Live Translation” Assistant button on phone to help recall a specific word or phrase in another language whenever they want. Learning new languages is fun and quite useful too.
