Google is working on a plan to help smaller businesses and teams prevent data leaks in their own circles. The company is testing out Data Loss Prevention (DLP) rules and policies for Admins in Google Chat.
Admins can make custom DLP rules in Google Chat
These DLP rules are mostly for people who typically share sensitive information with a group of people. The group could be for a company or project where everyone is sworn to secrecy. Sometimes, people purposely or intentionally discuss private matters and send sensitive files outside of the group; this is where the DLP rules come in.
The admin is given a set of rules and settings that they can enable throughout the group. This is a custom affair, so the admin can tailor the rules to fit their specific needs.
When the DLP rules for Google Chat are enabled, messages in the group will be scanned for any sensitive information. Each message sent, either internally or externally, is scanned before it’s sent. Not only that but images are also scanned. Google did note that links to websites will not be scanned.
These rules extend past Google Chat
The DLP rules aren’t only Google Chat, they can be used for other properties. The rules can affect other Google properties such as Chrome and Drive. This is a vital step because if a person really wants to leak information, they would most likely venture outside of Groups to do it.
If a person tries to send sensitive information via Google Drive, it will be blocked. The same can go for properties such as Google Docs. Any Google property where data and files can be shared will be protected.
When a rule is violated, the admin will be notified
An important step that Google put in the process is notifying the admin when a violation occurs. If a member tries to send off sensitive information, the admin will receive a report about what happened. In the report, Google will tell the admin what rule was broken, who did it, and other useful information.
Right now, these DLP rules are still in the beta stage, so you’ll have to sign up to use them. While they are in the beta stage, there will be some issues to deal with, so if you find any problems, they will be fixed before the official launch.
The post Google Chat Unveils New Feature To Combat Data Leaks appeared first on Android Headlines.

Source: ndroidheadlines.com

Data leaks are always a threat in our modern digital age, as it seems like big corporations are having their […]

[1

post-9157","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bez-kategorii
["GET
