The short answer is yes, Hulu + Live TV works on Android TV. The longer answer is it depends on the device.
At present, Hulu with live TV only works on a handful of Android TV devices. It remains unclear whether that list will improve over time.
It’s important to note Hulu technically has two Android TV apps available. They are the „Classic” and the „Latest” app.
What is Hulu + Live TV?
Hulu + Live TV is a live TV streaming service. Hulu + Live TV costs $44.99 per month and currently provides access to 69 channels. Although the exact number of channels and lineup may vary depending on location.
Hulu + Live TV does come with one notable benefit over the other live TV streaming services – Hulu on-demand. For the same $44.99 price, Hulu + Live TV subscribers also gain access to the standard Hulu subscription. Typically, a standard Hulu subscription costs $5.99 per month alone.
With so many channels on offer, Android TV users might be wondering if they can use Hulu + Live TV on their device?
Which Android TV devices work with Hulu + Live TV?
Here’s the official list:

Hisense Android TV
NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015 and 2017)
Sony Bravia Android TV (2015 and newer)
Xiaomi Mi Box

Now, having one of those devices will only matter if the device is used within the U.S. Hulu + Live TV is only available to U.S. consumers.
It is also worth noting that this is simply the official list. For example, both LeEco Android TV and the JBL Link Bar also show as unofficially supported devices. This means you can download and install the latest Hulu app on Android TV devices other than those listed by Hulu.
Of course, as these are not listed as official supported devices, in spite of being able to download the app there’s no guarantee the app will completely work as expected.
To check whether an Android TV device is unofficially supported head over to Hulu for Android TV Google Play Store listing via a web browser. As long as you are using the Google account associated with the Android TV device, you’ll be able to check for support by clicking on „This app is compatible with some of your devices.”
Once clicked, all of the supported devices associated with the Google account will be listed. You can also then install the app on any of the listed devices directly from the web Google Play Store listing.
My Android TV device does not support Hulu + Live TV
If you own an Android TV device other than those listed in the previous section, you still can access the subscription service from another device. This includes Android smartphones and tablets.
Besides Android mobile and Android TV, you can also access Hulu + Live TV on these devices:

Amazon Fire Tablets
Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
Apple TV (4th gen and newer)
Echo Show
Google Chromecast
LG TV (select models)
Mac and PC browsers
Microsoft Windows 10, Xbox 360 and Xbox One
Nintendo Switch
Roku and Roku Stick (select models)
Samsung TV (select models)
Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4
VIZIO SmartCast TVs

What’s the Classic app?
As mentioned earlier, Hulu actually has two Android apps available in the Google Play Store.
The Classic app is the old Hulu app. Unlike the Latest app, it does not come with a number of the more advanced and premium features, including live TV streaming.
Basically, the Hulu Classic app is the standard Hulu subscription app and not much else.
Hulu Classic Android TV app
This was the only app Android TV users could previously download. However, when Hulu launched Android TV support, the Classic app was upgraded on compatible devices.
Since that upgrade became available, those compatible devices are no longer listed as supported devices for the Classic app. For example, you can no longer install the Classic app on the NVIDIA SHIELD TV or supported Sony Bravia TV models.
If the latest Hulu app is not compatible with your Android TV device, you may still be able to download the Classic app. Albeit, without access to live TV streaming.
Want to know what to expect with Hulu + Live TV on Android TV?
