Nokia 7.2 Pre-Orders Finally Start In The US

The Nokia 7.2 has now been sighted up for pre-order in the U.S. from B&H Photo and Video or Best Buy in two different color variants. Those are Nokia’s Charcoal gray and its Cyan Green colors.
Nokia announced its mid-range Nokia 7.2 earlier this month at IFA 2019 alongside the Nokia 6.2. The larger Nokia 7.2 is a 6.3-inch Android 9 Pie handset compatible with GSM and 4G LTE networks from T-Mobile and AT&T.  Android 10 will be released for this handset and older devices but this one will get two years of updates. Three years of security updates are planned too since this is a near-stock Android One program smartphone.
Nokia 7.2 is a worthy successor to its previous mid-ranger
Following off of the success of the Nokia 7.1, the 7.2 packs an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC compared to its predecessor’s Snapdragon 636. A more respectable 4GB of RAM are backing that up coupled with more storage at 128GB. That’s as compared to 3GB RAM and up to 64GB storage included with the Nokia 7.1.
64GB storage base models are set to become available at some point but both retailers are showing the 128GB variant for now. The chipset represents a moderate update with four cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and four more at 1.8 GHz. Support is included for microSD cards up to 512GB.
Just above the HDR10 PureDisplay tech-enabled Full HD+ display panel backed by Pixelworks enhancements, Nokia includes a 20MP quad-pixel front-facing snapper. Around the back, the company has opted for a ZEISS optics-powered 48MP quad-pixel main camera. That’s set in a triple array with a 5MP depth-sensing camera and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The latter of those features a 118-degree field-of-view.
A better Night Mode, a dual-camera mode for front and back captures, and new ZEISS portrait modes are included on the camera software side. HDR and 4K UHD video capture, as well as spatial audio capture, are a part of that package too. So the cameras are definitely going to be a hot selling point with the Nokia 7.2.
Nokia claims up to two days of use can be had from the 3,500mAh capacity battery powering everything.
Set to ship soon at a reasonable price
Pre-order pricing for the Nokia 7.2 starts at $349 for the Cyan Green coloration at New York-based B&H Photo. For just a dollar more, Best Buy is offering the Charcoal version. Neither retailer appears to be stocking the Ice silver configuration at this time. So that variant may not be coming stateside after all or it might appear later on at either retailer.
That pricing is in spite of the fact that this device was initially announced by Nokia to start at $349 for the 64GB base model.
In terms of shipping, B&H Photo lists its Nokia 7.2 as expected to ship from September 30. Best Buy doesn’t list the shipping date and orders aren’t quite ready yet, with the purchase button having been replaced by a grayed-out „Coming Soon” button. There’s no guarantee it will be available at the same time. But it shouldn’t be too long of a gap to wait through if there is one.
