Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G Has Seemingly Been Certified In South Korea

It seems like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G is just around the corner. Recently, a Samsung device bearing the model number SM-T866N received certification from South Korea’s National Radio Research Agency (RRA). And apparently, this model number belongs to the rumoured 5G version of the Galaxy Tab S6 5G.
Galaxy Tab S6 5G Will Likely Be Released In South Korea Only At First
Back in October, the tablet was also spotted in the database of Wi-Fi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG. Now, the N in the model number usually indicates a South Korea bound device. This means that the slate will only be released in Samsung’s home country for now.
This year, we saw various companies release 5G-ready handsets. However, so far, no tablet has been released offering the next generation of wireless connectivity. This means that Galaxy Tab S6 5G can become the first 5G-ready slate on the market. It is not clear if Samsung will also release the tablet in other markets.
Compared to other countries, South Korea has been relatively quick to light up 5G networks. That’s perhaps the reason why the Galaxy S10 5G is doing well in the country. Moreover, the Galaxy Note 10 is only available in the 5G configuration in South Korea. On the other hand, coverage is quite spotty in the United States, although we can expect it to get better in 2020.
The Galaxy Tab S6 has already received rave reviews. It is the first tablet in the world to come with an HDR10+ screen. It is underpinned by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. The performance is perceived to be so great by some users that they have called it a laptop alternative. For added productivity, users also have an option of connecting a keyboard cover to the slate. It is also compatible with the S Pen stylus, which attaches on the back magnetically. The tablet features AKG tuned stereo speakers. It also supports DeX integration and this gives it an edge over Apple’s iPad, especially for enterprise users.
5G connectivity will make the tablet even more enticing. We do not know yet if the Galaxy Tab S6 5G will also get any other upgrades. The addition of 5G alone will likely result in a price increase. The base model of the Galaxy Tab S6  with Wi-Fi costs $649.99, while the LTE model starts at $729.99.
Huawei Is Also Planning To Launch A 5G Slate In January
Currently, Apple dominates the tablet market. However, Samsung is the third most popular tablet vendor currently. The Galaxy Tab S6 5G can help it win over consumers who want to enjoy fast speeds offered by 5G on a tablet.
It isn’t clear when exactly will Samsung release its 5G-ready tablet. However, now that it has obtained the necessary certifications, we can look forward to an announcement soon. An early launch will give the chaebol a head start over other vendors planning to release a 5G tablet. For instance, Huawei has also revealed plans to release a 5G-ready version of the MatePad Pro in Q1 2020. In the best-case scenario, the Chinese giant’s tablet will be out by January. So, if Samsung wants to nab the bragging rights for releasing the world’s first 5G tablet, it will likely announce the Galaxy Tab S6 5G before the year ends.
