You Can Now Play An Official Monopoly Game On Android

There’s now an official Monopoly game available for Android smartphones, as Monopoly for Mobile launched earlier this morning.
To be clear, this is not the first Monopoly game on the mobile platform. Some years back there was a version of Monopoly made available through EA (the company behind Anthem and Need For Speed) and officially licensed by Hasbro.
This new version of the game is officially licensed by Hasbro as well, but it’s being published by Marmalade Game Studio. That being said this is a full version of Monopoly so you’ll be able to play just like the old days, but without a physical game board.
Monopoly will cost you $4 to buy, & there are in-game purchases
Worth noting right off the bat is that the game is a paid mobile title. These days, you rarely see this for big-budget franchises like this one. Usually these kinds of games are made available for free.
To pick Monopoly up though you’ll need to pay $4 to download and install it. What’s more is that it offers in-game purchases, and they range in price from $2-$30. That might seem a little bit excessive, and it might be.
Especially considering that this is a paid game from the start. Keep in mind though that you are under no obligation to spend any money on in-game micro transactions.
And, the in-game purchases seem to be only for cosmetics, which means you aren’t paying for anything that will help you win or boost you to an advantage in any way.
You can play single player or multiplayer games
Monopoly is really best when played with other people, but you can play this version of it solo if you like, even if you can’t the play the original that way.
This is made possible thanks to the game’s use of AI. Basically you’re playing against the computer. According to Marmalade Game Studio this is a challenging AI to deal with, so it should give you a little bit of a challenge but it might not be anything game-breaking.
The game also supports a Quick Mode of play just in case you don’t have enough time to finish a full match. And let’s face it, you won’t always have a lot of time to play, so this mode would suit those times well.
In addition to the Quick Mode there’s other notable features too. Such as offline multiplayer and the house rules. If you’re itching for a little bit of Monopoly fun that you can take with you anywhere, you can grab the game from the Google Play Store now.
