Google Gave Out Free Stadia Premier Bundles For The Game Awards

Tis the season of giving, and for Google that included giving away a bunch of free Stadia gear. Not just any gear though, but Premier bundles.
Last night was the Game Awards 2019, an awards show that recognizes and celebrates the best in gaming from best multiplayer game to game of the year and more. It was also the first time the show had been streamed in theaters across the country.
Google linked up with these theaters (all Cinemark) and gave each and every attendee a code to redeem a free Premiere bundle. Which means there’s about to be a whole lot more Stadia users.
New users just saved a ton of money
Anyone that ended up going to a Cinemark theater to see the Game Awards just saved a ton of money on getting set up with Stadia.
The Premier bundle, like the Founders bundle which sold out, is $129. It comes with the white controller, a Chromecast Ultra, and three months of Stadia Pro for free, after which it costs $9.99 a month.
The ticket to the Game Awards which also included an early screening of the upcoming Jumanji film, cost $20. So for $20, anyone that went not only got to see a new movie and an award show, but they picked up access to Stadia and saved about $109 on the bundle.
Users over on the official Stadia subreddit uploaded images of little cards they were given that were shaped like Stadia controllers. On the back was the code to redeem the free bundle.
Google is ramping up its advertisement
In a roundabout way, setting up attendees to the Game Awards at Cinemark theaters with free Stadia Premiere bundles is a great advertisement for the service.
And it shows that Google is really kicking things into gear when it comes to showcasing what the service is all about and getting people to try it.
It’s no secret at this point that Stadia has had a bit of a rough launch and a few hiccups. In the weeks since launch though it’s been garnering more and more positive attention. Google is also playing more ads for the service across forms of media.
It’s not clear exactly how many people attended the Game Awards 2019 at participating Cinemark theaters, but the awards show was being streamed to those theaters in 26 different states, at 53 different theaters in total.
Chances are that there were quite a few attendees across all of them together, which means quite a few free bundles.
