The Black Shark 3 series has just been announced. It seems like leaks were spot on this time around, as much of this information leaked recently. The announcement took place in China, in case you were wondering.
The Black Shark 3 Pro comes with a larger display, and physical 'shoulder triggers’
The company announced two devices today, the Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro. Those two devices are quite similar, but there are some differences between them, of course. Let’s talk about the design first, shall we. In that regard, these two phones are almost completely identical. They are different in terms of size, though, as the 'Pro’ model comes with a larger display.
The two phones are made out of metal and glass, but they don’t exactly look ordinary. Both phones have a rather odd-looking camera module that hosts three cameras. Proportionally to that camera module, the same-looking design accent is placed on the bottom of the phone’s back side.
This makes for a rather odd-looking back side of the device, but there you go. The device does not feature a display notch or hole, but it does have some bezel on the front. This is definitely a better choice when it comes to gaming, as you won’t have anything to cut into the display real estate.
Black Shark has announced four color variants of the Black Shark 3, Black Lighting, Armor Gray, Silver Stars, and Bright Pink. The 'Pro’ model, on the other hand, comes in Phantom Black and Kaijia Gray colors. Those are at least color variants for the Chinese market, we’ll see if all of them will become available in other regions.
Both phones include a cooling system on the inside. The 'Pro’ model even comes with physical shoulder triggers, which are built into the device.
Both phones include high refresh rate OLED displays
Now, in terms of specs, let’s tackle the differences first, shall we. The Black Shark 3 features a 6.67-inch fullHD+ (2400 x 1080) 90Hz OLED display with 270Hz touch sampling rate. The company claims that the touch latency has been reduced up to 24ms.
The 'Pro’ model boasts a 7.1-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) 90Hz OLED display. Both panels are flat, by the way. This makes both phones considerably larger compared to their predecessor. Both displays support HDR10+ content, by the way.
The Black Shark 3 comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants. Its 8GB RAM model is equipped with 128GB of storage. The 12GB RAM model can be purchased in both 128GB and 256GB flavors.
The Black Shark 3 Pro, on the other hand, is also available in both 8GB and 12GB RAM flavors. Both of those variants are equipped with 256GB of internal storage. Do note that both phones are equipped with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 flash storage.
That’s basically the only difference between the two phones in terms of specs. Both devices come with Android 10 out of the box, and feature an in-display fingerprint scanner (optical one).
A 20-megapixel camera is included on the front side of both phones, while neither of the two devices offers a microSD card expansion. Both devices feature 64-megapixel (main camera), 13-megapixel (ultra-wide lens), and 5-megapixel (depth perception camera) cameras on the back.
65W fast wired charging is also included in the package
A 4,720mAh battery can be found on the inside of both devices, and both phones support 65W fast wired charging. The company claims you can charge this battery up to 100-percent in 38 minutes.
The Black Shark 3 pricing starts at CNY3,499 ($502) in China, while the 'Pro’ model’s pricing starts at CNY4,699 ($674). Price tags will be different in other markets. Black Shark did not say anything about the global availability of these two phones, but the company will probably release more info soon.
