YouTube TV loses YES Network & Some Fox Regional Sports Networks Today

YouTube TV has reached a deal with Sinclair, regarding the YES Network and Fox Regional Sports Networks, and it doesn’t look too good.
While YouTube TV did sign an extension with Sinclair, it appears that the new deal has gone into effect today. Removing the YES Network and also removing some Fox RSNs. The deal is a bit weird, seeing as only some of the networks are going to be disappearing and not all.
For example, Fox Sports Detroit is still available for me. We’re also seeing Fox Sports Carolinas, Fox Sports Florida and a number of others that are still included with YouTube TV. And this looks to be permanent now. Thankfully.
Only LA market networks were dropped
Taking a look at the list of networks that are still available, it appears that only the LA market networks and Fox Sports Oklahoma were dropped. While LA is a pretty big market, it is good to see that the number of networks that were dropped were pretty minimal.
Fortunately, YouTube TV says that it is still working with Sinclair to come up with a new deal to bring these networks back. So it’s not all said and done yet. But for now, those networks are going to be missing from YouTube TV.
YES Network confirms YouTube TV drop in childish tweet
YES Network confirmed that Youtube TV dropped the network with a pretty childish tweet this morning. Stating that „YouTube TV, for its own selfish reasons and total disregard for its YES customers, has refused to pay the market rate and accept market terms and conditions that other YES distributors have agreed to.”
Now considering YouTube TV isn’t the only one to have dropped YES Network recently, it looks more like YES is charging way to much for these distributors. Sling TV and Fubo TV have recently dropped YES Network and all of Fox’s Regional Sports Networks. So at least YouTube TV was able to keep the majority of the RSN’s.
Currently, only Hulu + Live TV has both YES Network and Fox RSN’s. It is a bit more expensive than YouTube TV, and it does not include unlimited DVR, so for some that might be seen as a downgrade. But if you really need/want YES Network, then it’s worth switching. Hulu + Live TV does offer a free week trial and then it’s $54.99 per month. And you still get all of the Hulu content included.
