Samsung Will Sanitize Your Phone For Free, To Help Fight Coronavirus

Samsung has started its own Sanitizing Service in 19 countries, that will sanitize your smartphone for free, as a way to help fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
Since the Coronavirus has become a popular topic around the world, many have been wondering how to disinfect their smartphones. After all, it’s something we use everyday, and it is also something that is super dirty and disgusting. Some tests have been done that show that your smartphone has more germs than the toilet. That’s pretty incredible.
Instead of just letting customers ruin their phones by using Lysol wipes, Samsung decided to open up its own Sanitizing Service, and offer it for free.
Galaxy Sanitizing Service uses UV-C Light
The way this service works is, that Samsung uses a UV-C light to clean and disinfect your phone. So there’s no harsh cleaning chemicals needed. As those can greatly harm your device.
Samsung is offering it for Galaxy phones, the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds.
Samsung, obviously, advises against using abrasive materials or harsh chemicals to clean your phone. Those can scratch and damage the oleophobic coating on the device.
The company also noted that it has tested the sanitization devices carefully after using the UV-C light, to make sure it doesn’t affect the phone’s performance. And so far, it has not. Samsung also notes that the UV-C devices are made by third-parties, so that it might not be as effective as it should be. Samsung says that results may vary and not all bacteria, germs and viruses might be eliminated. But the good thing is that using this won’t affect the performance of your smartphone.
This service is available at any Samsung Service Center. It is available in 19 countries right now, but Samsung is working to bring it to more countries in the very near future.
In fact, Samsung has already said the countries it plans to bring this service too: Australia, Austria, Canada, Czechia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Panama, the Philippines, Romania, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. Though currently, there’s no word on when exactly that will happen. Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.
This is another example of a big tech company doing good and helping to combat this deadly virus. And where the Coronavirus is spreading pretty rapidly across the world, it’s good to see Samsung doing this.
